I have been waterfowl hunting with a Maverick 88 in 12 gauge. I have managed OK, but with a bunch of goose hunting of late, I am getting tired of being beat up with 3" goose loads. A significant part of the problem is the very light weight of the gun (plastic fantastic, decontented mossy 500 rip off). Some is due to the action, and some is due to the fit. The rest is my occasional failure to shoulder it correctly.
Obviously this isn't the most opportune time to think about an alternative, but pretend that we aren't in a run on everything for a moment. What would you choose as a 12 gauge 3" waterfowling gun that will help reduce the beatings? I am dragging it through all conditions, so I would prefer not to part with a truly stupendous amount of money.
