South PA, and a bit West of center!
I wear my piece open about home, office etc (that's at home too - bottom of yard) .... folks are pretty used to it, and for most part no great hassles from visitors.

Other day tho - last week - guy backs in - with his propane tanker to top up office tank. Seen him before but maybe he hadn't seen the piece before. Sorta guy who looks OK - beard - big guy - you'd think hunter, shooting etc for sure. Not so sure!! From time he latched onto what I was carrying he looked less than comfortable - all way thru to when I paid and he left! His demeanor seemed uncomfortable! Incredible.

Then today - the contrast. Guy comes by to discuss an installation I want done for a change-over switching box for a generator. First thing he sees on entering office ''outer regions'' are moonclips full of .45acp. ''Ahhh '' - ''45's eh?!'' .... and tho my piece is well in view, not an obvious look even and, certainly no change in attitude. In fact, had we had time to discuss things other than electrical - I reckon we'd have BS'd quite a bit on shooting stuff. As it was, there was a brief discourse re handgun hunting and what his brother used.

Just goes to show - even in this pretty gun savvy sorta area - there are still some apparent wusses! :p :D

you should feel lucky that the only thing you get is funny looks. If I were to carry a gun and anyone noticed, I'd be on the ground in handcuffs within a few minutes :(

Sadly, there's no shortage of "wusses." Take a stroll across a college campus and you'll meet several. No open carry necessary to identify them, as the smell is a dead giveaway.

Hey there's a reason for me to move back to PA. Gotta try and out number the anti-gunners in my home state! And yeah if anyone saw me carrying outside my home here I'd be in a bit o' trouble.

Kinda new here. Anytime I throw a saddle on a horse my Grandads 92 Win.in 38/40 goes on it too. In the saddlebage is a 7 1/2" SAA in 45cal. Just a force of habit I guess.

Two College Campuses I have near me:

The first one I attended is where I "clashed" with folks , e.g. the day I put a gun-lock on a fire extinguisher to make a point to Eng Lit instructor.

Where I attend now...well the instructor likes my thoughts on using a pc of Fiber Optic to make a front sight.[ I have an idea I'm working on] Mnemonics for say a color code : " Winchester Rifles Bring You Victory" , and we discuss many concepts using firearms, hunting and such as reference.

Nothing was said about me using a Otis pull-through cable like a fish tape to pull cable....nobody freaked because I happened to have it in my backpack either... :)
