Most accurate out-of-box 1911 for price...

Yeah, kind of a complex question, but I'm curious...

I'm wondering what people think the most accurate 1911 .45 is, out-of-the-box, for the least price? I know that one could trade off accuracy vs. price, for example, perhaps the Rock Island Armory 1911 might be considered quite accurate for the price. But probably, one could spend another $200 and possibly get much greater accuracy.

Certainly, at some point, there are diminishing returns, such as >$4000 IPSC guns.

Anyway, fire away, so to speak!

My Wilson KZ-45 is unbelievably accurate out of the box. Although my Kimber was very nice as well

Wow~! Seems like a loaded question too me~!

And, I'm sure you will get many varied responses. In terms of less expensive,
my vote has to go to Springfield Armory's 5" MIL-SPEC. Parkerized models
will run right a'round $549; while its stainless counterpart is closer to $600.
At a bit over 6-C notes, comes Kimber's blued Custom model; also a very
good weapon for the money~!

Most accurate out-of-box 1911 for price...

I'm pretty much stuck on Kimbers. No doubt some of the other middle price brands are as accurate but if something is working for me I stick with it, so I just keep buying Kimbers.

A couple weeks ago I got out my old Plain Jane Ultra Carry, that I hadn't shot for a while.
When I'm having a good day I'm pleased as can be with how well, even the most inexpensive Kimbers shoot.

There are many good shooters out there.
My Kimber shoots like the one in the pics above. There target 5" guns are really good shooters. Springfield also makes a good gun and cost less. But My next one will also be a Kimber.

Sub $600 the STI Spartan is hard to beat.

I picked up a Kimber Custom TLE II last year that is exceptionally accurate (more accurate than my old Colt's Gold Cup and about on a par w/my 4-year old Wilson) ...

I have a SA Loaded SS Champion (purchased new two years ago) that is awfully accurate as well; even one of my two SA Loaded LW Micro-Compacts (approx. 2005 production year) actually shoots pretty well, too ...

My beater Colt's Gov't Model (circa 1958 or so) is as accurate today as it was twenty years ago.

I'd say it's luck o' the draw with the quality 1911 makers; can't speak to say, RIA or Charles Daly.

When you say "accuracy" I start thinking in terms of what would interest an NRA or PPC shooter who has to do business at 50 yards. A Baer PII at $1790 list would be a start. A good shooter would want the $295 upgrade.
Wait out a good target specialist gunsmith's turnaround time and you can get out for less money.

If you shoot closer and/or at bigger targets you can pay less and do ok; as for IPSC or IDPA.

Kimber Warrior. It might be the perfect compromise between price, durability, reliability and accuracy. I bought mine when they first hit the market. It's got far more accuracy potential than I'll ever be able to use and it's never failed. It was a little over $900 when I bought it, they're around $1100 now.

Having said that, there are a lot of nice guns out there for that kind of money. The Professional from SA will probably set you back about $2200 - $2400.
