Most Accurate 9mm Out of the Box

But the MOST accurate 9mm, OOB? SiG P210, I am thinking.

My Beretta Px4 does 3" at 25 yards.

The Walther P99 and Browning Hi-Power are quite accurate as well.

I'd love to find a Sig 210 for a reasonable price, but that's not gonna happen. Plus, I prefer regular full size to tricked out competition guns. When you shoot a 3" grouping at 25 yards with a competition gun, you just don't get as many bragging rights...you know? ;-)

Maybe one day I'll go that route, but for now I think I'll use the 226 for general competition in small caliber divisions.

The SIG P210 is the most accurate pistol ever produced, period. Very few custom pistols come close to it. The HK P9S is probably second to the SIG along with the X5/6.

IMO, for $800 find a used SIG P226ST and send it to Bruce and Scott @ Grayguns for some trigger work.

Nice heavy pistol to soak up the recoil with a fantastic trigger. You'll be getting some good groups if you do your part.

From my personal experience:

1) The S&W M952-2. I shot the best groups of my life at fifty yards with this gun until I got the below pistols. The ergonomics were a bit off for me, so I traded mine for 1911-pattern pistols.

2) Baer Monolith Heavyweight. Mine is a solid two-to-three inch performer at fifty yards.

3) STI Target Master. My current fifty-yard target pistol. The Aristocrat sights make shooting at (up to three) different distances much easier.

I bought a STI Trojan in 9mm.....mainly as a low recoil, low cost practice gun as an understudy for my 10mm and 45acp 1911's. Now, the 9mm Trojan is my most used 1911. If you like 1911's, get a 9mm 1911....you will wonder what took you so long.....

Oh yeah, its a tack driver with most loads.....hell, it even likes BLAZER

The CZ SP01 is scary accurate with fixed combat sights. Add adjustable target sights and it will be even more accurate.

Hi; I'd like to take a different approach to answering your question. You mention that the 1911 .45 gets too expensive to shoot, but the cost of a new pistol isn't a problem. So, why is it too expensive to shoot the .45 and not too expensive to spend $800-$1200 on another pistol plus ammo not expensive? I assume you'r not reloading, or you'd realize that the .45 can be cheaper to shoot than the 9mm. Accurate reloads at 50 yards for my .45's cost me about 4 cents a round. For the 9mm that cost goes to around 10 cents. The cost difference is that the .45 shoots cheap cast bullets well while the 9mm needs to shoot jacketed bullets to be accurate at 50 yards.

How about a SIG X5? I hear that it is extreamly accurate but with a 2.2 pound trigger pull I am not sure I would want a gun that a strong wind could fire. But for $2000 the ****er better aim itself

For me it was the P89 Ruger. I shot a Sig 226 and Glock 19 on the same day I bought the Ruger.

At 25 yards Glock 5 inch groups, Sig 3 inch groups, and Ruger 1 1/2 inch groups.

The Ruger has the longest pull on DA and a lot of slack on SA but I still managed to hold it steady so I bought it. The Sig had the best trigger of all three.

To me it is how it fits and feels what is the most accurate. It will most likely be different for anyone.

I would never try to 'spute someone's word, but 1.5 inch groups from ANY combat pistol at 25 yards it ridiculously good; let alone from a P89. I'm lucky to get double that with mine. It's been 100 percent reliable, but a tack-driver it is not (and as it wasn't designed for it, I'm not complaining).

You must have lucked out incredibly with yours.

Besides the aforementioned SIG P210 and H&K P9S, I would like to add the Walther P88 to that list.

H&K pistols are in general well made and accurate.

Most targe shooter here in Switzerland take a Sig P-210 for target shooting at 50 m (55 Yards)
For 25 m (27 Yards) a Swiss army pistole Mod. 75 basically a SigSauer P220.

And for IPSC, Sphinx AT-2000 or AT-3000 are
very popular

We are able to keep our service rifle (SIG-550) or Service pistole after military service. We only have to pay approx. 80$ to the army to convert the full-auto combat rifle to a semi-auto and after that this wappon is your own property!

So we don't have to spend money to get a accurate shooting toy

I agree with all who said the HK P7 series. I have shot many guns, and the fixed barrel and great sight radius help them make probably the most accurate 9mm out there. You can pick up P7PSP for $686 from CDNN right now! But they won't last. I just picked up (2) more P7s yesterday to add to may P7M8.

Price is not really a consideration, but I would like to keep it under $800 if all possible.

HK Elite 9mm new runs a little over this amount. These are scary accurate. A slightly used one may be under the $800 limit.

In response to the STI Targetmaster, I have one, but to tell you the truth: I was so impressed with the trigger, right out of the box, that I didn't even notice the accuracy.

I liked it so much, that I've ordered the STI LS9, which I'm hoping should be at my dealer soon. STI makes one heck of a gun. You would think it was made in Texas.
