I've got the AP4, but haven't shot it enough yet, but so far I'm very pleased with it.
I had a conversation with a Columbus City Officer who has the DPMS SASS, and said he qualified as a "snipper" the first time at the range. He had the only semi auto there

My DPMS LR 308B (18" bull barrel) using my reloads (Fed case, Fed match primers, 42 gr RL 15 & 168 Sierra match king) will give me consistent 3/4" ten round 100 yd. groups. I've gotten 5 round groups as small as 7/16" with it also. These groups were shot from a concrete bench using a Harris bipod. No sand bags, no support at the rear but my shoulder.
The rifle is box stock with a 4 ~ 16 scope.
In over 1000 rds thus far, no failures, no jams, no misfires, no problems.
It is also easy on the brass, resizing is easy and brass life is 4 ~5 reloadings.

tntwatt ... most accurate .308 semi-auto out of the box?

It certainly wasn't my AR-10... the most accurate .308 semi-auto
rifle I ever removed from a box is my sub-moa MK14 SEI Mod 0.
My moa MK14 SEI Mod 1 is no slouch either

I have a DPMS LR308AP4 too and while I haven't shot it enough to find that perfect combination to make a grouping like Doc, I am very pleased with my current groups. Would like to know Doc's recipe though. :)

My buddy has an Armalite AR10 but he can't get it anywhere as near as accurate as my AP4.

I have a DPMS .308 SASS that almost always shoots under an inch at 100 yards (if I concentrate) with a best 5 shot group of 0.38 inches with federal 150 grain. I also have an AP4 but the trigger is definately not as good as the SASS so I haven't measured any groups, but their still pretty tight. I think the DPMS rifles are great!

Armalite 24" bbl, AR-10T. Mine runs 3/4" or less with five shots of almost anything. The magazines are kind of crappy but the gun was top notch.

DPMS Rifles are very accurate. The added advantage I think is that you can drop an AR-15 Match trigger into one.

How far do the AR10 or DPMS offerings sling the empty brass? Any extraction or ejection issues? Are they as nasty to clean up as an AR15?

Thanks guys.

I believe the M1A is more accurate than the AR is reliable. In other words, the M1A has a greater advantage over the AR's reliability than the AR's advantage over the M1A in accuracy.

I doubt the AR's or M1A's in competition use sell for less than $2000.00. for the M1A's and AR's you'll get for less than $2000.00, I don't think you'll see much difference in accuracy, but a big difference in reliability.

my nod is to the M1A.

I've been thinking about a national match M1A, but also DPMS lr-308
this is also what i would recommend as well, though not neccesarily a national match m1a but at least a loaded model.
