I am graduating and moving to Milwaukee, WI on May 22. We bought a home in Waukesha, just west of the Waukesha city limits.

I've known we're coming to Wisconsin for a while, and I gave some money to WCCA last year. I was pretty disappointed when Doyle got reelected. I'm politically active and hope to make a different on the CC front in Wisconsin.

I'd love to meet up with some other Milwaukee area shooters, and am looking to join a local club. I tried using the NRA gun range finder, but I didn't see anything that looked real good. There are a lot of gun clubs that allow you to shoot skeet, but no pistols. I'd like to join a club that at least allows you to shoot pistols, and hopefully rifles as well.

Any suggestions on good places to shoot, especially clubs I can join, near Waukesha would be appreciated.

Theres a great club out in Hartland! If i am correct its called the Hartlands Sportsmans club. I hunt with a bunch of there members. They have like 5-6 pistol bays they shoot IDPA and a 200 yard Rifle line from were they shoot Highpower matches. I know they have a trap range and a pretty nice club house. Not sure on the cost to join but i enjoy the shooters there and there range!

Thanks for the information. A search on google gave me this website: http://www.hsc-wi.org/. Looks like the club you were talking about.

It looks pretty nice and is only 5 miles from my house. I will definitely be checking it out. The only downside is no indoor range, but I suppose I can pay at some of the gun shops that have indoor ranges when it gets real cold.

Well, welcome to WI. You'll find this a good state for shooters/ hunters, but led by Madison liberals. Be sure to add your voice to the chorus via the Wis. Gun Owners. So you can keep up on 2A issues in the state. Oh yeah, register to vote and do so every chance you get! Maybe we can toss the bums out in the next election.

Thanks for the welcome.

I don't want to step into a hornet's nest, but I have heard that Wisconsin Gun Owners (the organization) is not a friend to the concealed carry movement, or gun rights in general, because they are too extreme.

I do plan to help out with Wisconsin Citizens for Personal Security, but want to learn more about Wisconsin Gun Owners before I do anything to help them.

Milwaukee

I moved from Milwaukee 3 years ago. I am now in sunny Tucson. Anyhow, I always went to Badger Guns on 43rd and Lincoln, Jay's Sports in Menomonee falls on Main stree, just west of 41/45, and I heard that the Shooter's Shop on 84th(ish) and Beloit(?). Other than that, I just went to my cousin's place in grafton.

Welcome;
Jays closed a couple years ago...Shooters is on 84th between Lincoln ave and Cleveland....Waukesha gun club is a good Trap/Skeet/5stand club and is the home club of the late Vic Reinders one of the all time great shotgunners.....Hartland and Boone are both pretty good all around clubs [pistol rifle shotgun]...Boxhorn a little further south is a good club with a resident gunsmith [Dennis Potter] that Id rate the best in the state....
