Muzzle thread choices

I am building myself a custom 358 Winchester bolt gun, my first build of this complexity as I've done ARs and savage barrel swaps in the past. I have the barrel chucked up and indicated through the headstock of my lathe and I questioning myself about the 5/8-24 muzzle threads I had planned. No immediate plans for a muzzle device as I am not a fan of brakes and do not at this time own a big bore rifle suppressor. Doing some research I see its common for 9mm carbines and 350 legend to come with 1/2-28, I have not seen much mention of 5/8-24 and some mention of 11/16-24. I have enough diameter to do any of these as I measure at .810"

Please educate me if there is a set standard for this bore diameter, I'm also interested in your collective thoughts on what you would choose.

Based on my experience, the 5/8-24 would be considered the "norm" for that bullet diameter.

It is very common from .308 and up. I was surprised that my 45-70 was 5/8.

My 45 Raptor is 3/4. I had to get a custom brake for it when I first built it and then a different "nose piece" for my 46 Cal. suppressor.

It is common for 6mm/243, 6.5mm, and 308/30-06 to use 5/8" - 24. I also looked up muzzle brakes for 358 Winchester and most are 5/8"-24, 11/16"-24, and some with 3/4"-24. 5/8"-24 will be the most common thread size.

Given the chambering, the minimal benefits of a large thread like 3/4-24 for long range precision don't really factor, and muzzle device options in that size are fairly limited

At the same time, 1/2-28 is pretty marginal for a .35 caliber Rifle. And most 1/2-28 muzzle devices are geared toward 5.56mm.

5/8-24 makes the most sense. Everyone supports it with muzzle devices, and owning a lathe, you can easily open up a .30 caliber muzzle device if the one you want isn't made for .35 or .375 cal.

Thank you guys, you have allayed my fear that I hadn't thought through my choice of muzzle threads adequately. I will be going with 5/8-24.
