Hello,
Anyone out there having or had difficulty getting a barrel from John Getz. I have scratch built 13 rifles and all have been stocked with Getz barrels. I have dealt with his father (Don) for many years. Been to their shop many times as well. Don has always been of the best sort of integrity. A man of his word. At the 2008 Gunmakers Fair I paid John face to face for a barrel. He told me he was starting a run of that style as soon as he returned home from the Fair. He said I should have my barrel in about three weeks. It has been almost a year now and John has refused to return 17 voice messages or pick-up the phone in 41 attempts. I ask the Better Business Bureau for help. They attempted to contact him three times and have been blown off as well. There is no excuse for this type of behavior. None!!! Anyone else out there with difficulties in dealing with John Getz?

Thanks for the reply. Anyone who hangs out a shingle and calls themselves a businessman, can certainly invest two minutes time to return a paying customers call. Unless of course they have something to hide. I get at least one person a year ask me to build them a gun, how sad it will never have another Getz barrel on it.

I don't know for sure but at Friendship I was talking to some of the guys at the Gun Maker's Hall and they said that John was just sluffing off and letting the business go to hell. I have heard others say that they have had a lot of trouble from Getz since John took it over. I won't buy another Getz barrel. My choice for barrels would either be a Long Hamock or a Rice barrel.
