I have a range buddy who's now retired down in AR. He goes shooting at least once or twice a week. Sometimes more.

And he gnaws at my leg by sending me targets, the likes of which I'll never be able to shoot.

Attached is a seven-shot group from a bone-stock Llama .45, shot with his own handloads, two-handed, at 50 feet into a 3" black.

He's emailed me even better targets, but I thought this one was pretty good considering the pistol. In fact, this target is pretty much routine for him, whether he's using a Davis .380, a Hi-Point .45, an AMT Hardballer, or any other cheap pistol. He doesn't do quite as well with his pocket guns such as the small Kel-Tec's, but still does well.

In my email to him, I said that he would stand up against just about every good pistol shooter on any gun forum.

So, please post your average best targets--not your BEST targets--but ones that represent the average best that you can do.

I have a no-dollar bet with my buddy that he can outshoot just about anyone I know personally, or on the internet.

Please bear in mind: he can shoot clusters like that all day.

So, let's see some better targets.

I don't usually shoot at 50 feet. I test handloads at 10 yards, and then go to 25 yards, AKA 75 feet, to see how well they do. I do have some test targets from handloads, not the greatest, as you requested, (I have done 1.5 to 2 inch groups at 75 feet with the PO1 and selected handloads.) These are from a range trip with my PCR, as the quest to find it a perfect load ensues!

Well, here's 5 shots of factory Winchester .45 ACP shot at 45 feet, standing with a two hand hold.

I have done better than this, especially with my reloads. :D

I generally don't keep "average" targets, only samples of the best. But this &W 952 + a Docter Optic will tear up the 10 ring all day long. 54 rounds rapid fire, 50'.

Monkeyleg, I think you lost your bet. ;)

We've got some good shooters on this board. At 25 yards freehand if I keep them inside the circles on a 25 yard slow fire pistol target I've done pretty good!! At 15 yards I can usually keep them in the black. At 3 and 7 yards my target looks pretty similar to JoeHatley's. Obviously I have a lot of work to do.

I know this is half the distance (20 feet) and it's a 9mm. But, it's the best I can do standing freehand, indoors, using factory ammo.

Pics like that make me say "Son of a pickle" Especially since I went out back yesterday and couldn't seem to hit a 6" paper plate at 21'. Some days I should just quit early. Especially since I essentially wasted 200 rds of good ammo. I did get a good tip out of it from my father-in-law though - "Use an bigger target. You'll be able to see where you hit and correct." That was another "Doh!" moment. Why didn't I think of that.

Here are my targets that are about my average. 25 yards one hand .22 with a Dot.

Keep the targets coming.

Just to keep it fair: my buddy shot that target standing, two hands, at 50 feet.

I could shoot that target at 25 yards, but only off of sandbags. :(

Went flying early this morning. Been messing around all day and I'm tired. And it's a little windy. And I've drank too much coffee.:D
I just shot these couple groups at a target I already had hanging, so I guess this is pretty average.

Standing Two hands.

610 at 15 yards, 50 shots. Average target. Actually the first 50 shots I took with the gun.

722 15 yards, 50 shots per target

Python, 15 yards, 50 shots.

All of my shooting is offhand, two handed and just blasting away.

I wish i would have taken pictures of my last range trip, with the xd, had some good stuff, oh well i guess i will have to do it all over again, then post some pics!

There are alot of good shooters on here, i won't be comming in ya'lls house uninvited anytime soon!:)

I'd be ashamed to show the target I shot up when I stopped off at the range today on my way home from work. This was my second time to shoot my new G17 (which I bought thinking that since it was 9mm I'd be able to afford to shoot more often). Yikes!! It wasn't pretty. I shoot MUCH better with my carry gun (G22). :(

Braden,
Don't even count that, any shooting with a brand new gun that you have only fired a few times that dosen't count, you gotta get the feel for it and get in the grove. don't let that get you down man!

3rd generaton Glock 20, full power 10mm ammo, 10 shots at 20 yards offhand

My 2nd Gen shot better. Should've kept that one. :banghead:

Beretta 92FS Inox, 50 rounds of wwb 115gr fmj at 20 yards offhand

Kimber Classic Custom, 20 rounds of RA45T. I can't remember the distance.

If you through enough lead downrange you're bound to get some good looking targets sooner or later.
Don't let your buddies targets intimidate you. YOU can do it!

Here's a target from my first range session with my stock Springflied Compact:

DSCN0026.jpg

That's 15 rounds of 185gr. JSWC CCI Blazer at 15 yards, free standing, 2-hand hold. Guess where I had to aim to get that group ;) Here's a pic of the gun:

Not bad for a stock compact shooting Blazers.

Dang! Some of you are some pretty awesome shots!

Heres mine, took it for a previous range report.

8+1 50ft. standing 2 hold.

Not nearly as good as some of you guys. Nice shooting everyone! :)

Hey JoeHatley

Thise are VERY impressive groups from a 642! Is that really 25 yards?
I have a 642 and it is not an easy gun to shoot well at distances (for me). The sights are difficult to say the least.
Give me a 1911 and I can punch out the 10 ring, not as accurate with other configurations.~Nathan

Black Majik, that is an interesting pattern. What (if anything) did you change
while shooting? Is it the same grip and stance? Rapid fire then re-adjustment?

I should have modified the rules slightly by saying that Peter M. Eick can't post targets on this thread. ;)

Some really impressive shooters here. I'd be embarrassed to show my targets after what's been posted here.

Actually... I wasn't really shooting for groups. I was just casually shooting against my friend. She shot at 7 yards, I shot at 50 ft, and we just had a friendly bet to see who would score better.

So basically, I'd shoot one, then she would shoot one.

Here she is at our "shootout." My target is one lane to the left of hers.

No. I wish!! IIRC... that target was shot at 45 feet. I had to hold around 5:00 , and took all time I wanted. Most of the other target are at 20 or 25 yards.
