I've waited for this thing for a looong time....

It's an STG58 kit gun built on a DSA type II all steel receiver with a custom 18" barrel. It's a brand-new gun I had made specifically to my own specifications. It took 15 weeks for it to get here, mainly due to DSA's huge waiting list and constant downtime with receiver milling machines, but it was WELL Worth it. I put 90 rounds through it today. After putting 25 through it, I go home, field strip it, and then my friend shows up and he wants to go shoot it now! Well, we end up taking nearly all my guns (12 gauge coach gun, 9mm CZ, Mosin, nad the FAL) and have a GREAT time. We filled up old milk jugs with water and set them at various distances. I shot a few cans first while he blasted away with my CZ, then when half the ammo for each gun's mag was used, we switched. Sharing is a good thing.

He ends up going WAY overboard, because he's having too much of a "blast" shooting the thing! He blows up nearly every single jug of water before I can get it out of his hands and let me take the last two down! What a stream of water, the horror, the horror.

Then we set up full cans of Coca Cola, shaken of course, and blew those up with the Mosin. When that thing hits, dear God, the can disapears! Well, in the spray of carbonated beverage, it sorta just gets blown in two and two sides go to each side of the road. He would only shoot my 6 pound 12 gauge with birdshot, haha, sissy. :D

Ok, enough of me rambling. Time for pretty pictures. Quality isn't that great, and it was dark outside by the time I stood still long enough to take these pictures.

My wife would skin me alive if I deployed the bipod on our dresser.

I've had a StG for a little over 3 years...great gun. Getting ready to order a 16.25" Para from DSA. They quoted me a 14 week waiting period. Yuck. Old pic...my post WWII has a bunch more friends now.

I was quoted $860 for the gun when I originall ordered it. However, the total came out to be $900 because I wanted an 18" barrel instead of a 21" or 16.25".

man....1600-2300?

I am paying about 6 bills for my Imbel...and its dressed in all kinds of DSA goodies. AND I AM GETTING IT TODAY!!!!

I think Ahnuld needs to act more like "The Commando" we all know and love...

Deer Hunter, I wasn't kidding about mebbe meeting up...I got a friend up here who is from the Jasper area and he says about the same thing you do...not too hard to find a spot to plink around....

D

sigh*

where are you finding these deals?

I am getting an imbel fal (with an entreprise receiver) for 800 this weekend. nothing fancy, just the gun and a carry handle. no bipod, etc.

i went to the dsa website. the guns are all 1100 minimum.

dang it, for me to buy a cal legal fal from DSA it's $1650-2300!

That's because the Cali-Legal guns are all US-made. The STG-58As, like mine originally was, are made mostly from the last of the surplus Austrian parts. Their prices tend to fluxuate. My STG-58A cost me $950 even back in 2001.

I've heard rumors that the last of the STG kits are drying up. If this is true, it means you need to snatch up your STG-58A soon, as once the kits dry up the best FAL "parts gun" on the market will be gone forever. The Austrians only made but so many of the original rifles, after all.

The prices on DSA's website are MSRP. Generally, most maufacturers are rather optimistic when suggesting retail price. Equally generally, if you actually pay MSRP you're probably getting hosed.

Deer Hunter,

Nice FAL.

Is it hard to remove the bipod?

What's the difference between the Type I and Type II receivers?

Deer Hunter,

Also, what kind of flash hider is that? Steyr short?

(One of these is obviously on my "short" want list).

Yep, the flash hider is a steyr short. Works great. It's not hard to remove the bipod, but I havn't done it to mine yet. I like it. Not sure about the differences in the type I and II receivers. Check over a FALfiles if you want all the details on the differences.

Type 1 & 2 have different lightening cuts. The Type 2 was developed after the Type 1 to add extra strength due to some problems with Frame cracks in Type 1's firing full auto. On a Semi gun, it's mostly cosmetic.

I have a Type 2 on my DSA SA58 Para, I just think they look cooler:D
