My first CZ: Shadow 2

I have a number of CZ's, including the SP-01, 75 Stainless, PCR, Phantom and P10. They're among my favorites to shoot. We were at our gun club a couple of weekends ago and another member was shooting his Shadow. He let us try it, and I can't put my finger on why but it shot way better than any of mine. It has me debating whether I want to trade in a couple of mine that I use strictly as range guns for one of the Shadows.

I don’t think you’d regret it. I’ve never shot any other CZ for comparison, only handled them.

Honestly I’m impressed enough that I’ve thought about putting night sights on this one and making it my home defense gun. Then I’d order another one from Cajun Gun Works for range/potential competition.

TomJ, do you have any CZC or CGW parts in any of your guns?

I've compared the actions on my 75-based guns with the Shadow Orange and Shadow 2 that I've handled in stores, and while I really like the feel of the Shadows for target shooting, the actions of my CGW-equipped guns are better IMO. I'd think that a Shadow with CGW parts would be awesome.

Knowing the transformation that it made to my other 75-based guns, if I had a Shadow 2, I wouldn't be able to stop myself from putting this kit in it. :)

I have the Ultra Lite kit from CGW in my SP-01, PCR and Phantom. The 75 Stainless and 97B I forgot to mentioned were bought used and the triggers were already broke in well. The triggers after installing the kits are fantastic. As good as they are, the trigger on the Shadow was better. We happened to run into the same gentleman at the range yesterday and asked him about his Shadow. He had quite a few upgrades installed from CZ Custom.

Ive heard nothing but good things about the CGW parts and what they can do for a CZ. I’m contemplating sending my gun in and letting them perform magic.

It's because they looked at the ergonomic improvements that Tanfoglio had made to the original CZ designs and reappropriated them!

Fair enough. Everybody and their brother have knocked off the CZ design and made a living off of it, obviously "stolen" many, many sales from CZ. Returning the favor would be well deserved if that's what they actually did. :)

I did notice the difference in the grip. It's closer to the grip on my Phantom.

Yep. CZ had a great basic design, Tanfo' copied, refined, and improved it, and then CZ copied many of those refinements back (and added some of their own). It's a great thing for the sophisticated shooting consumer!

It's a lot like (though not quite identical to) the grips on the square-trigger-guard Tanfo's. As is the front and backstrap checkering.
