yes, the official tacticool reason for the non black furniture is to break up the outline of the rifle at a distance:cool:

The main reason is I like the way it looks:D

Questions about the T1, does it cowitness at that height? And does the dot sit low in the optic or is it in the middle? For some reason I thought I remember hearing that the dot sits on the bottom third of the sight.

the T1 has it's dot centered in the optic just like all the other Aimpoints.

The configuration I have on this rifle gives a lower 1/3 co-witness: When brought up to a normal cheek weld the irons appear in the lower 1/3 of the field of view and are ignored while you drive using the illuminated dot in the center of your field of view. To use your irons as an emergency back up (or to verify your red dot zero): scrunch down a bit on the stock.

An absolute co-witness, by contrast,: when at normal cheek weld the irons are centered in the field of view with the illuminated dot "floating" just over your front sight post.

Either one of these co-witness can by achieved by selecting the appropriate optic / mount / spacer combination.

Which to use is a matter of personal preference.

Thanks for the advice Steven58! I'm looking to pick up a T1 for my build I'm putting together rite now. So I guess I'd want to steer clear of the Daniel Defense mount if I want a regular Co-Witness.

If you are not going to be using the Aimpoint Micro with night vision equipment then don't buy the T-1 Version. Buy the H-1 instead.

The H-1 costs about $100 less than the T-1. The only difference is the T-1 has ultra low settings and special lens coatings that prevent the light from the sight from "burning in" on the screen of a night vision device (kind of like what can happen to a plasma TV if you leave a game on for too long).

Other than that they are built exactly the same. Yes, the T-1 is tested to greater depths for water resistance but I have been assured by Aimpoint that they are made the same all that is different is the testing. So unless you are going to scuba dive with night vision goggles get the H-1!

PS, I got the T-1 cause I do use NVD for predator and raccoons:D
