Holy bat man,, bought mine for $170 delivered during Bush years.... And a 7.62 Saiga for $170 at a gun show near the same time, but sold my $80 dollar SKS's, wish I still had:(

Then there was the boating accident :(

Obama has raised the price,of everything !! Grrrrrrrrrrr, can't wait to vote against him and his communist buddies..........

I love my WASR 10. I feel like the longer I've had mine, the more I like it. I always spoke of how innacurate it was, but then I realized I've only ever shot wolf and brown bear through it. A guy gave me some barnaul hunting stuff, that i've heard is more accurate, Ill see how good that is.

It's posts like yours that make me wish I was interested in firearms at and earlier age. Man, I could have put together a pretty bad-ass collection for a lot less.

In regards to your vote, don't expect anything different from Mittens Romney.

I just wish they'd drop the Norinco ban, would make the prices of a LOT of AK stuff drop.

18" at only 200 yards is a big target, mine can do that all day long.
I wish I had a range close by like where you shoot out there, Ditchtiger. Tracers at what, about 1,000 yards with a Mosin Nagant? 200 yards is close in, for rifle range.

I'd guess that the average beat up WASR here in the U.S. is better quality/condition than the average AK in third-world armies.

I wish I could still buy the cases of Chinese 7.62 for a nickel a round. I'm not a big AK aficionado, but I bought one at a gun show years ago (mid '90s IIRC) for $200. It was a used Egyptian rifle with a funky plywood thumbhole stock. The guy was walking around trying to sell it. An FFL dealer friend at the show vouched for the guy so I bought the gun. The guy says "Oh, wait a minute. I've got a box of ammo that goes with it. Follow me out to my truck and I'll get it for you."

I follow him out to the parking lot, he opens his truck and gives me a SEALED CRATE containing 1,440 rounds of Chicom surplus 7.62 ammo.:)

Supposedly the quality of the GP WASR 10/63 is quite a bit higher than past rifles. I believe that they are made from actual mil-spec parts and barrels. Not the inspector rejected barrels and parts of the previous sporters.

Any truth to this?

I bought mine a couple of years ago, it is straight and has the Tapco Fire Control Group.
I love the weapon. Never had any malfunctions with any of the ammo or the 6 mags from various countries. I did have to open up the mag well a little to accomodate a couple of the mags. I was really surprised with the accuracy.
