My Custom S&W Model 65 Round grip, with a 4" pencil barrel installed that would have been on a Model 64, I have installed a Target trigger and hammer and have had the cylinder machined for Moonclips. This thing is very accurate and carries wonderfully. The trigger is incredible and I love shooting this thing. This thing just works. The only problem I have with this is whether I want to have it A coverage engraved and make it a BAR-B-Q gun or have it parkerized and make it a true workhorse. If I have it engraved I will have the front sight cut off and have a 1/10 black blade with a gold bead installed.

Greeting's Mr. Lee N. Field My Friend-

Yes, I do cherish that ole' 1971 Colt DS quite a bit~! The story behind it is
this, a co-worker whom I had known a long, long time made a statement
that if I bought him a brand NIB S&W 642, that he would then trade me
this pristine, factory nickel 1971 Colt Detective Special. Well, the rest as
they say is history; cuz I bought him a NIB S&W 642, and he gave me the
ole' Colt. I take it out of the safe every once in a while, shine it up nicely
and return it for another long nap~! I did not want this gun to shoot, as
I have many others for that pleasure; but this weapon is IMHO an heirloom
ready too be passed on to the next generation. ;) :D

6 in. Python

Bought it new in 1967 and carried it on the job for the first 10 years, 4 on motors. In fact, the first Harley I was assigned was manufactured in the same year. Still have the Python. Wish I coulda kept the Harley too.

Uzi Carbine in 9mm. My first gun given to me by my dad once i hit 18. I love it, shoots perfect, 100% reliable, capable of many things, and it just plain looks cool : ).:neener:

My most prized possession?

Kimber Raptor II Internal Extractor. I just bought a Custom II so I can keep her as safe Queen. :D

It's hard to pick only one child you like the best. I love them all.

The Ruger Standard .22 my dad gave me, I seldom shoot it anymore, but he taught me to shoot with it a very long time ago.

I am going to have to say my newly aquired Python in 6in blue, circa 1972 because it is my first Python even though I have lusted after them since i was 7 or 8 and am now 40 years past that, but I look real good! Don;t jump my case for saying this, but I actually take it out and just look at it sometimes, thinking about getting it re finished or leaving it alone or just marveling at the old seemingly long gone attention to detail, and pride in quality workmanship. I have a rant for that but that is another thread!

Mr. Ala Dan:

Allow me to express my shock and dismay as Mr. SIG-Sauer P220 .45 ACP changes up to a Colt DS in factory nickel. I think this is also a good choice but it comes as a surprise that you chose a wheel gun over your famous self shucker. ;)

I, too, if I were limited (thankfully, we are not!) to a single handgun it would probably be my .44 Magnum Model 29 S&W, which I had hand engraved because I do love it.

I admit it would be a hard decision parting with my others. :uhoh:

hard to say

I have 3 that are very special to me. My 1967 6" Blue Python is the prettiest gun in my modest collection. My Grand Pa's 1911a1 that he used to save his baccon in WWII. And my USP45 that was in my hand the only time in my life that I "needed" a gun.

A lot of Colt's.

Anyone else notice how many Colt's are listed here?
I have a 1972 Colt Detective Special that's my favorite.

I was of course going to put one of my many beloved 1911'a but that damn Python, there's just something about it!

The Springfield Armory 1911 is probably the most prized in my actual possession. However, I am going to cheat and say my absolute favorite is my dad's S&W model 27; THE original 357. (hey, it's in the family!);)

DQ me if you must; I'm at your mercy.

A Colt New service in .455 Eley with custom elk grips.
A close second would be my S&W Model 24 .44 special.

I don't have any that have sentimental value, but there is one that I love the most. I gotta say it'd be my PII, ever since getting this gun it's gone with me on every range trip, shot matches with it, took a class with it and still just keeps ticking with exceptional accuracy. This gun has just provided so much enjoyment and many memories, including slapping scotch tape on the side of the slide and writing SIG Sauer when I was shooting with the Sigforum guys.

I bought a Custom Carry to keep this one company, but that ended up being a safequeen because this one was already nicely broken in and I prefer the flat serrated target sights.

I've barely shot any of my other 1911s ever since also. :D
