I have a NIB Ruger Model 77 Rifle in 375 H&H. Not sure exactly what model Ruger this is so offering a short description. Excellent figured walnut stock with blued steel 26 '' barrel and express sights. Bought several years ago for a African hunting trip until my college football knees said NO WAY. As said, rifle has never been chambered or fired. Complete with Ruger rings and bases. What I'd like to ask, is what model Ruger rifle do I have (African, Express etc.). Rough idea what a fair price would be and would it be better to sell on this site or Gun Broker? Could also sweeten the deal with dies, bullets, and empty cases that I had purchased for this rifle. May also have the original box and shipping in the attic. Like to know exactly what I have before tying to post it for sale. Please help me guys? Beer's on me!

If it’s an MK2 RSM with the quarter rib like this one:

It’s worth in the neighborhood of $2k. These are pretty nice rifles but had some typical Ruger type issues of the day. Primarily they had a bad rep for unreliable feeding when worked hard.

They are not super desirable amongst the real deal DG hunting crowd but some folks really like them.

The asking price on these is about $1.5 to $2K

And selling for between those two numbers. Not a cheap rifle but definitely nothing special in the African DG realm.

If it's a bolt action it's an RSM, now discontinued. They were excellent safari rifles. I owned one in 416 Rigby and in 375 H&H. They had Circassian walnut stocks and a true magnum action. The only glaring fault I found is they were too heavy. Both fed well with never a hic up, and they were accurate with the express sights. The stocks didn't fit me well, just like the CZ 550 American express guns. I far and away prefer my old beater FN 98 custom 375 H&H and my well-used Husqvarna 98 9.3X62.

They're sought after now and command high prices.

This worn old pic was taken back in the 1990's on safari in Botswana with a 77RSM in .416 Rigby shortly after the RSM's were introduced and Federal offered ammo for it. Notice the tape wrapped inder the floorplate to keep it from coming open and dumping ammo at a bad time. Ruger also made a companion rifle in standard calibers called the RS Express which also featured nice wood, hand checkering, quarter rib, banded front sight and sling band. The way they made the quarter ribs was interesting because they and barrel were one piece. I consider the RS series the classiest bolt rifles Ruger ever made but sadly, the end of an era. RSE in .30/06 also attached. IMG_6651.jpg IMG_6662.jpg IMG_6664.jpg

I regret not getting the 416 a lgs had when closing down 4-5 years ago, it's actually how I got my ruger ts 77 in 7x57. Shop bought a bunch of rifles from a collection, there was a matching other 7x57 with the same wood as the rsm in Caucasian walnut it must have been made up to match the 416 perfectly not sure if ruger did it or not. They caught my eye and I looked at them. Shop owner said the guy had another 7x57 and that's the one I have, I looks like mine was the one hunted the most, probably since it shoots some good. Went last day the shop was open I could have got both rifles for $1200, yet another time I wish I had a credit card.
