Never hand load ammo when your tired!!

A lot of guys appear to take a batch of fired cases and perform all steps from A to Z without stoping.As a result by the time they are charging cases they are already tired.

I always decap, clean, size and trim then store the prepped cases. I finish loading on a different day when I am fresh. All that is required is prime, charge, and seat bullets.

You are less inclined to make powder charging errors if you eat the elephant one little bite at a time.

You know, I 'm considering an electronic/digital scale. Those pesky small notches drive me crazy on the beam scale I have.
I am positive that I have bumped the adjustment for 10's of a grain while reloading, I noticed it at the end of reloading for the day that the scale was 1/10 higher than it should have been for that load. Fortunately I was not loading at max already and was able to use the rounds without any issues but it was a wakeup call.

Using a RCBS 505 beam scale, I inadvertently moved the weight from one notch {5grs} to two notches. {10grs}
This sounds more like you were using the 5-0-2 scale instead of the 5-0-5 scale. The 5-0-5 scale has separate adjustments for 10's, 1's and 1/10's. The 5-0-2 has just two adjustments, 5 grain increments on the left side of the balance point and 0 to 5 grains by tenths on the right side of the balance point.
