New Blue Python - GOT ONE

Coated or not, it looks pretty good to me, but-

The hammer really, really, really shoulda been left stainless. When I see a Colt with a blue hammer, my OCD screams "REFINISHED!!!!"

Nice gun, Mark. 👍
If it’s Coated, hopefully it one of those very tough coating!

it’s not like old Colt,

it’s modern Colt with hitech CNC and manufacturing, hitech coating, not a hand has physically filed this gun.

If we think about it like that, and appreciate modern manufacturing! then THUMBS UP

That is one sweet revolver Mark_Mark. My s&w 29 was very similar in configuration and finish quality. I loved it. Never owned a colt, but I can definitely appreciate the desire...
New 29 or Old S&W?

It was an 89 or 90 production year if I recall, but had the nicest finish I ever saw on a newer s&w. And I oiled it almost daily. The blue was so deep you could swim in it, but it was really dark and not colt cobalt blue...
Some Amazing! how’s it shoot?

Well, I shot it out of time, it was misfiring on two cylinders consistently, and I stupidly traded it away instead of fixing it.. I probably put 8 or 9k rounds through it, but 7k was when the problems started. It was used before I got it, but not much. It was so accurate you could shoot cloverleaf with it at 50, and a clay pigeon on the berm at 200 yards wasn't safe. All of my friends thought it was the best shooting handgun ever. Makes me tear up thinking about it and it's been gone over 20 years. I've had to console myself with a Redhawk since then..

They're not blued. From everything I've read they are coated. I can't bring myself to buy one.
They are blued.

To me the white sided hammers always looked like they forgot something.

You are making me break a couple of commandments you know. It's YOUR fault. At least it's not a 4.25" barrel or I'd kick the cat.
 ;)

Congratulations Mark. Nice pickup. I still haven't seen a blue one.

(Note to animal lovers. We don't have a cat.)

(Edited to add). I knew a guy who once went out to buy a pizza. Came home with a Ranger bass boat. And got the pizza too, at least that's the way he told the story.

you got a laser welder? 🤔
Yes we have one at the shop. A wonderful gadget they are. I seen some vids of guys using them to restore some old Colts and such.
Let's see.....3D printer, yup you need a laser welder as well.....although it'll cut deeply into your revolver money

I didn’t realize the new Colts had QR codes on them. I went searching and found an image of one on a stainless Colt Python. It’s not as obnoxious as the one that came on the Marlin 1894 (Remington) that I had. That was one gun that just annoyed me. I traded it off.

The Colt QR code sure looks better than what folks used to call “The Bible” on Rugers years ago.

Dang that’s UGLY

Mark, I love your new Colt Python! I didn't even know they were making blued versions. Looks great! Good comment about not confusing old Colts and new Colts. That being said, I'd love to have either! 😁Congratulations and best wishes.

I’m taking bets, pick a date for how long until it happens…

Good luck with your new gun! (I seem to be saying this a lot in your case.)
😂 I don’t buy federal primers because they come in a HUGE case. Same with Korth! I got no were to store that case

Les Baer, Night Hawk, STI, Freedom Arm! Cardboad and Small!!!

Aw man,...say it isn't so.

Colt's made some bone headed decisions on these new offerings: flimsy rear sights, plastic fiber optic front sights, a trigger guard that looks like it's been dropped/bent, a skinny hammer, and RUBBER GRIPS.

Those issues notwithstanding, my KC .22 Target is one accurate, well made revolver and I've chosen to overlook the above short comings while reveling in its delightful DA and SA trigger and superb accuracy.

BUT........ I've got to wonder who's calling the shots? The: marketing guys, engineers with fantasies of manufacturing simplicity, bean counter swine or shooters that know what'll impress the great unwashed out here in the hinterlands? Colt certainly made a great revolver, but cursed it with some really cheesy parts in the interest of what? Economy?

Best Regards, & sorry for the rant, but I'd expected more...Rod

Where have you read that? Every source I’ve seen says blued. That’s kinda the whole point.
Blue, Coated, candy Coated, Drip Dry, Dipped, … IDK, I just want an excuse to buy a Modern Colt and rag on it! Why not rag on the most popular model!

My review will be very bias btw! Old Colt 4 Life

DA trigger is very good tho!!!
