thank you sir. Here's my only other oldster from the past. It's a vintage 1947 Remington 121 Fieldmaster 22 caliber (birdshot) smoothbore with Routledge barrel... :)

the Routledge smoothbore expands from 22 caliber to 410 gauge...

"1929 Ithaca Single Barrel Trap grade 5e"

that trap gun is ABSOLUTELY gorgeous! Thanks for posting that beauty...

You are welcome. Sorry for the poor quality pictures, I'm still not completely fluent in technology yet. Its amazing to think that was all HAND checkered and engraved. I can literally spend hours admiring it, its my most prized firearm.

Old Unc' -

I couldn't agree with you more. I love an old gun that has experience, practice and a history. I don't have pics of it, but one of mine is a Jeffrey's Enfield sporter, exactly like the one Val Kilmer used in "The Ghost and The Darkness" and it has four kill notches behind the grip, and one kill shield. I don't know the previous owner or what he took with this rifle, but I just like the whole essence of the gun. And all the other old, used, worn and nicked guns that I have. Anyone can buy a new gun but I love the lifetime of experience that has been worked into the old ones...

I sold all my 'vintage' stuff about six years ago. Soft non-tox shells are about $100/25 and
I didn't want to get stuck using those when they mandate no lead for all upland gunning. For rifle I would not mind old style Mauser like Model 70, Browning 'Safari Grade, Brno ZG,... or something similar but for scatter gun I want
modern steel and choke tube set.
Bought little used Charles Daly Ithaca 37 magnum pump with choke tubes. The best $250 I have ever spent on a shotgun.

You definitely have some oldies and still goodies. I'm still looking for an Ithaca Model 37 in a 20 gauge like the one I first used for hunting nearly 35 years ago.

all 16ga's. all but 1 are Ithaca 37's. The newest is a 1966. The top one, named "Quasidmodo", is a Savage 755A. All have steel receivers. The one in the white is awaiting blueing. It is the one that you might have seen in my thread(s) around the web on lazer welding receivers. the action is a new old stock 16ga Ithaca receiver that I will be using to build a gun for my wife. I have both a 26 and a 24 in barrel on the way, both have screw in chokes and both are vent rib. the 24" one will go on that receiver.

My rabbit gun is a Savage 720 (A5 type shotgun). My duck guns are not so old, 1960's era Mossberg 500's with single bar slides. I used to have a sweet Valmet-Savage 333.

I tend to favor old ones too. The one I've had the longest I bought in 1977, 78 or so from Sears-Roebuck. It's a Mossberg 500 rebranded "Sears." It was my deer hunting shotgun for years, and is still the one I grab when I do take a day to listen to the hounds.

I picked these two up recently though.

12 ga Parker Trogan from 1924.

1928 Lefever Nitro Special in 16 ga. Picked it up this week. It's ugly but was cheap.

I would love to find a nice 28 gauge Model 37, some day...

if you are referring to an Ithaca Model 37, they easy to find, Ithaca is making them again. Ithaca is back in business here in Ohio and there are higher end ones floating around

and if you are referring to a Winchester Model 37, they are around also

I'm looking to pay half that price. Living in central PA, great used guns from the past are everywhere. Just yesterday I picked up a nice 1920's AH Fox 16 gauge Sterlingworth for $325...

Unless gun is highly desirable variant in collector grade original condition it is buyers market out there. Naturally one does not go to Calbela's or Jaquas to get very good deals on classic guns. That Winchester 37A 28ga is worth about $75.

I was at a gun show yesterday. Guy opened a gun case and pulled out a beautiful old Browning like the top one in the OP, excellent condition. Dealer offered him $300 and he took it. Had to bite my tongue to avoid offering $350.

lately Ithaca 37s are starting to escalate in price. what was a 300/350 dollar gun has crept up into the 400 to 600 dollar range.

the Gander Mt here had one on the shelf for 550.00 (a 16ga) and it sold. it was way overpriced.

I believe that part of the reason is that folks are seeing what new Ithacas sell for, plus they are prime examples of old U.S. craftsmanship

there are good deals hidden in little shops that don't peruse the internet and people selling off Grandpa's guns, you just have to look

I got a deal on a 1949 Ith 37 16ga. It turned out to be a solid rib model, had an extra barrel fitted to it AND 200.00 worth of choke tubes.
