Gonna be up in the Granite State for a week in mid-July near New London (Little Lake Sunapee). Wouldn't mind visiting a couple of local gun stores just to see what they've got.

If I found something interesting I'd "buy" it there, have them ship it to my FFL in Washington State and do the background check at my local FFL.

I'm wondering if anyone has a recommendation or two on shops to visit. I won't have a ton of time to drive a long distance as there's too much fish'n, swim'n, golf'n, and play'n with the grandkids to spend a lot of time in the car.

But if there's something reasonably near by.....(and I especially like older 9mms, Sigs, S&Ws, and Walthers plus .38s and milsurps).

Also, are personal transfers legal? I'd still have to have an FFL ship it as I'm routing through New York to get back to WA....and the couple of weeks I spend in the state of the Safe Act doesn't allow me actually take possession...and I don't think federal law does either.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. And I'll probably be looking for a gun show if there's one the week of July 6 to July 19.

Thanks in advance from the Pacific Northwest.

Riley's Sport Shop may be a bit out of your way, but they've had some eclectic stuff over the years and I always enjoy stopping by.

I always stop into Skip's Sport Shop on 3A in Bristol, when I'm up that way.

Nice people and good selection.

You may pass near Bow, where Lewis Arms is. I've never been to the shop, but I purchased a rifle off of him on Gunbroker. In addition to the gun shop, I believe he's an accomplished custom 1911 smith, if that's of interest to you.

Riley's is definitely a good one. Shooters outpost is a good place but more of a Cabellas feel.

Rileys is the best in the state. In my opinion. But it's a long way from where the OP is going. In the Sunapee area there are two excellent shops: Rody's Gun Shop in Newport, and Stone Eagle, also in Newport. Rody's is the place to go for a Ruger; And if you buy a gun at Stone Eagle, you get a bible with it. Which I find to be a much needed accessory in this day and age. Both shops run by great people.

PS, just for knowin', Shooters Outpost asks to see a drivers license just to purchase ammo, which is why I avoid the place. There's no place for that kind of intrusiveness in NH.

SSN Vet, Brad won't do any more gunsmithing. Why, I don't know since he was one of the best around.

If you get far enough east, Kittery Trading Post in Maine, just north of Portsmouth shipyard. . .

(which is still in NH, by the way :neener:)
