New knife in progress from knifemaker

I recently found out about a talented knifemaker named Justin Miller whose business is called Running Man Forge. I have no business affiliation with him other than ordering a custom knife build and thought you knife nuts might be interested in this post. The guy is humble, helpful and super-easy to work with. He is sending me photos of the knife as he progresses through the build so I will share here as I get them.

Here is the blade after heat treat. His remark was "Can't wait to see the hamon on this one." Me neither!

Here's another photo. Mine is second from the top. We are going to extend the grind to the spine so there is no forge finish on the blade. Just a personal preference.

And then it's expensive and it will split sometimes when drilling it. That will make you scream!

Ironwood is one of my favorite handle materials though and certainly not the hardest to work with. Plus it's very stable for a natural material.

Very nicely done; especially the Ironwood scales! I agree with Valkman: needs a leather sheath instead of one made out of Kydex.

I dislike leather. Leather has been the ruination of many field/utility knives.
