Stoked, $600 no sales tax $10 registration and LGS threw in two Magpul Glock 17 mags. I have extra Reddots, gonna decide which one to put on tonight. Gonna find SB tactical folding brace. Can use a muzzle device without the disconnect piston part I guess. Fun fun. I am gonna move charge handle to left side. , And put on a single point bungee sling I have and maybe a tiny but 600 lumen rail light that has no home.
I decided on this pdw after much research , it is so very kewl, I love it, especially made by Ruger part ! 15906262419488129182978553503946.jpg

Worked on it and shot a magful before dark to roughly sight in with ball ammo. Found a 2 moa redot that wasn't being used (Vortex) , moved charge handle to left and put in the Glock magwell. The bungee sling works about as good as a brace, but decided not to buy a SB fs 1913 folding stock yet as they are redesigning them , I may put a qd AR buffer tube adapter on it with an SB M3 tube and brace as that style is what I am used to. I like this little PDW alot ! IMG_20200527_210639068_HDR.jpg

I have not been able to figure out what the advantage of any of these pistol caliber carbine pistols is? Is the attraction being able to attach a brace that you can't use as a stock but always seems to find a shoulder to rest on? Is that the main selling point over just a full sized pistol? Just curious? I am not trying to cast dispersion's on anyone's choice of gun!

P.S. I love my PC9... I can't imagine the charger version would be anything short of fantastic!

Nice and scary looking gun. Would make a good house gun the perp would probably Be startled by the look of it. It would be Adam near perfect house guy with alas on it so you could fire it from the hip with a high probability of hitting where you aim. I might have to get one.

Probably a short barrel shotgun would be better for hip shooting. This thing hits 2 liter bottles bst 109 yards, try that with a high cap pistol. With a suppressor it's quiet too :)

I have the carbine version. I was really stoked about the Charger version. Then the practical side of me kicked in.

By the time I put a brace on it I'm close to $800 for it.

The 6" barrel didn't help either.

I pick up my PSA 10" 9mm today. $725 out the door....with the brace. The Ruger would have $650 out the door with NO brace.

The folding braces aren't my cup of tea. Too short for my ape like arms. So I would have had to purchase the rail to buffer tube adapter and a brace. That's going to be at least $200.

I did hold the Charger, and it had a brace. It didn't seem to balance for me.

This showed up today. I changed the brace to a SBA4 and changed a few other parts. It's a PSA 10" 9mm.

Advantage? Range and accuracy. BTW, it's perfectly fine to shoulder a brace. The BATFE isn't in the business of telling you how to hold your firearm. It's a brace, not a stock. Just because you decide to use it as a stock doesn't change the fact that it's a brace. You can use a hammer as a screwdriver. It doesn't turn the hammer into a screwdriver though.

This is my second AR pistol. The other one is a 10" 300 Blackout. Both are short and handy.

At one time the ATF actually DID have a letter out stating braces were not to be shouldered. They have since reversed their position but they certainly can change their minds again.

Between my son and I we have more than 10 "pistol" format carbines. The Ruger is the shortest and the QD barrel is very kewl ! We do have a QD barrel system AR but it is not a " pistol" so we stick to .300 and 5.56 barrels. I hope your PSA is reliabile, the AR 9 MMS I have used in past were troublesome, either feeding geometry or other problems and didn't use Glock mags . I had an UZI B model and it was super reliable but the 16 " barrel ruined it, never had a pistol UZi , but did have a MAC 11, which also suffered from magazine problems. With the way things are going right now , I think this Ruger with the Aim point might offer protection to members of my family who don't want to carry an AR based system and may face rioters or looters or even worse. The Ruger fits in a large handbag, I currently have it in a " messenger" Italian branded bag with two 17 round and as of today, two 33 round mags. :)

I put around 200 rounds through the PSA yesterday. Not a problem. My buddy has a couple thousand through his with no problems.

One of the differences is that the PSA lowers are built for the 9mm. They are not a full sized lower that has had the 9mm shoehorned in.

Update on the Charger: took it to a range with other non firearm enthusiast family members that expressed a recent interest ! I chrographed , with my strap on unit :) Blazer brass 147 grain flat points at just over 1000 fps average from it's 6.5 inch barrel. In the 500 various rounds fired so far zero malfs from all magazines 17-33 round capacity. The red dot sight was adjusted to put the 147 grain ammo dead on at 25 yards where from a pistol rest it made 2.5" groups , a little less than I expected, but the trigger is somewhat heavy and moderate creepy. At 100 yards my son can pretty regularly hit 2 liter water bottles by aiming at the top of them. The recoil impulse, while really not notable, is heavier than I expected and rested bounced the red dot off target.
I familiarized the family with it's easily manual of arms and they enjoyed shooting a couple mags each of 115 grain reloads which are only 1/2" low at 25 yard range they were shooting. Having the barrel away from the body and a little longer makes the Charger friendly for novice shooters and the Reddot makes aiming easier. I have not yet fitted the one multi use suppressor I have to it, but will soon with the Blazer brass 147 ammo. I have no buyer's remorse with the Ruger PC Charger 9mm as of yet. For my own defense my 10" Noveske brace equipped 5.56mm Pistol remains my own PDW of choice. It can produce 3" groups at 200 yards and has a lot more horse power in almost as compact package.

Further update but not going to do pictures of any controversial items anymore, infact I have restrained most all of my AR or other military based semi auto postings for years of the ones I prized most. The Ruger has entered that realm :) I put on a single point Bungee sling on day one, and it is still there, very handy and a pistol shooting aid and hanging this shorty as a neck tie !
My Charger now has a Sig Brace mounted to swing right and it can be fired folded as I have moved the charging handle left from the day I bought it ! The Sig brace works very well, I never received my Triangle 1913 folding brace from the other people I ordered it from many months ago and bought a Sig 1913 brace as soon as I saw it for very little more, the latch is superior !
My Ruger has an Aimpoint Patrol Optic (not "Vortex" as I first reported), which is very similar to an M2 but improved a little and is a tank, I have no back up sights (except a green laser in my light) !
I use the Glock Magwell and all Glock mags run well but latest generation with the dual latching cuts are a tighter fit. I like the 33 round OEM Glock mags as they have the 2 cuts ! I took off the hand brace and put a 1200 lumin Olight with laser (Baldor PL2RL) in it's place .

The gun does not seem bullet profile or brand picky, everything has run well in it.
The latest upgrade is a Kaw Valley XL 9mm muzzle device and I am extremely happy with it! It is well made and screws on tight and is very light . I shoot almost all supersonic ammo and the 6.5" barrel is not very noisy but the Kaw Valley sound redirector really really makes the gun quiet at least from the shooter and observers position ! Shockingly so . I have one Suppressor that goes on evrything I own in 9mm, .300 Blk. and .223 and .22lr. It is modular and I have a few muzzle connector/pistons for it. I did use it on the Ruger Charger and it is indeed very quiet with 147 grain subsonics., all the other supersonics still crack tho. So with the KAW Valley I actually get comparable results with almost a pound less weight and much shorter than with a real suppressor with super sonic loads. The Suppressor is used elsewhere, mostly on my .300 Blackout that I use for nightime home defense (mostly predators) in Oregon where the gun is sighted in ready to go with it , just switch on the Thermal :)
Anyway I am shocked how much fun the Charger is to shoot with the XL Kaw Valley attached . No tin can is safe within 100+ yards, my son can hit them at 200 yards !

I liked my PC Carbine so much I bought a PC Charger a couple of months ago. I've got a few hundred rounds through it with a Sig Romeo 5 and it makes an excellent pdw. I had several Magpul 21 & 27 round mags for it and I've had zero issues with every type of ammo I've put through it. I also second the Kaw linear compensator, well worth the money.

Funny this post popped up again. Last week I bought the folding TF1913 brace not even owning the pistol. The thing has been absolutely unobtainum since the start of COVID. Must have been the powers of suggestion or something. Found a Cali Compliant version (10 round mag) on line for a hair over 6 bones. I heard tell of a LGS that had 2 last week and wanted almost 800. Ordered this one up. Seems like the Cali compliant variant is running at least a hundred cheaper than the 17 round mag version, and the ONLY difference is the size of the magazine.....

Yup you were lucky to find that TF1913 Brace ! Yes you just get a Ruger 10 round mag in the box but you get the same Glock mag well with it sooooo :) enjoy. Seems Ruger did their home work on this, there are no revisions like the Sig version has had; which is twice + as expensive and uses hard to get mags.

Optics planet came through for $40 off from regular price. Now all i need is a can that'll work for this and the carbine rifle.

It was Optics Planet that stood me up 6 months on my paid order of the triangle 1913 brace ! I gave up when they had a Sig one in stock, tho not a triangle one :(

Crappy deal, that. Mine is supposed to be delivered today, and I'm watching the driveway from the second floor office, working from home.....

I don't have the pistol, but do have the rifle. I agree that this format is extremely easy for almost anyone to use. I have tried for years to get my wife to warm up to the AR platform. She loves shooting them as long as I load and make ready for her. Since we do a lot of 10/22 shooting, which she likes the best, she picked up the PC carbine, pulled back the charging handle and was immediately getting hits. I have a red dot on mine as well so it is essentially a point and pull deal for her.
