So I just recently obtained my Permit to Carry and was looking for help with one of my new holsters. I purchased a crossbreed supertuck which hasn't arrived yet and a Galco Concealable Belt holster both for my Glock 19. After an hour of trying different spots I can not get the concealable belt holster to conceal the closest I have come is getting close to 5 o'clock.

I'm 6'1" and around 235 been hitting the gym like crazy to get rid of this love handles cause they aren't helping the cause. I have a feeling the supertuck is going to work great for concealing. Should I chalk the concealable up as a loss or do you guys have any tips. Would also love to see some pictures of people using this holster.

One last question would a stiff leather belt like a beltman help to pull this top of the holster it towards my body? That is the biggest problem I am running into is the rear sight and the bottom of the mag you can see them from across the street they print so bad.

Well when your Crossbreed shows up you'll be fine.

Is this the Galco you have?

If so, its an OWB and its never going to conceal as well as an IWB. That said, with a good loose shirt (like a Hawaiian shirt) it should conceal somewhat. Part of the problem is that if you're new to CCW you aren't yet comfortable with it so you THINK you're not well concealed when in reality, nobody will be able to tell you're packing (you'd be amazed how many folk that open carry tell stories about walking around with a large gun on their hip and nobody notices).

It'll make a great holster if you ever want to shoot some IDPA or wear under a heavy coat in the winter or a suit coat for formal or if you decide to open carry.

A stiff leather belt will always help, but nothing conceals as well as IWB.

Yeah that's the one exactlly you even picked the right color lol. Thanks for the advice I can open carry so that is always a good idea and in Minnesota half the year is heavy coat weather so I'll keep it for that.

What belt are you using?
If it isn't a dedicated gun belt (like the one from CrossBreed, or even better, BeltMan) then good luck to you. I have a hanger in the closet full of "almost gunbelts", they didn't work.

YES, a stiff belt will help, by being stiffer and more comfortable when tight. For a duty-size polymer pistol (which I think the Block19 is, or is it the compact?) a 1.5" bull-hide belt will probably work, for OWB you might want the stiffener added, or possibly horsehide. I just pack IWB (with thinner guns) with a SuperTuck and generally the 1.5" Beltman standard model and sometimes the CrossBreed belt.

The width of the Glock isn't helping
OWB carry isn't helping
If your wardrobe doesn't include some room for your pistol that isn't helping ... think un-tucked shirt that's long enough that nobody will ever see your belt again with a normal motion
Your paranoia doesn't help either (trust me, most people wouldn't notice a gun in your HAND these days, a half-assed concealment rig will work a great deal of the time)

Good call on the CrossBreed, now add a belt and order soon, because the good shops tend to have a longish turnaround, although I think BM has some in stock in non-mongo sizes if you don't want any frills or special materials.
When the CB ST arrives, play with ride depth and cant until the grip is tight in to your body, most people find a forward cant more concealable and an easier draw because that's how the hand is naturally positioned if you reach behind your hip. I like mine to have the Kydex just below the top of the pant's waist for easy re-holstering, deeper can give a bit extra concealment.
If you have choices between magazine sizes, go with the flush-fit for EDC and use a larger one for a reload if needed, grip dimensions matter most for belt carry, IWB or OWB.

bigfatdave awesome post thanks! The 19 is the compact. I'm excited about the CBST also just waiting on it to show up so I can measure for the beltman with the holster in my pants.

Not a bad idea with the thicker Glock, now that you mention it.

If you're ordering from BM anyway, I'd throw in a jar of the leather preservative they sell, it is good stuff for holsters and belts, or just about anything leather you might have and want to keep nice without softening.

... ... here it is, "Obenauf's heavy duty leather preservative" made in Idaho to a recipe from a wildlands firefighter.
Good stuff, I wish I'd ordered it from BM at the start instead of waiting. I worked some into the leather's smooth side on both my SuperTucks as well as leather slings, belts, etc ... I haven't put any on boots yet but I have a pair I want to try it out on.

Here's the angle that works for me with my PPS:
Two shots of the ST without a covering shirt. It looks like I didn't have the clips seated quite perfectly yet in these. The belt is also from CrossBreed, I'm in "casual day" uniform, cargo pants and a camp shirt with undershirt.
(undershirt is very helpful for IWB carry)

And here it is concealed:
First shot is natural drape of the shirt (A snazzy silk camp shirt in this case). MrsBFD took a bunch of these, at various angles, none showed much of a lump, this one had a hint of a suggestion of a bit of a "something" under the shirt.
Second shot is with shirt pulled tight over holster as I bend forward, a "worst-case" shot. There is something visible under the shirt, but only if you know where to look. This was the most "revealing" shot of four.

So that's what a good IWB holster, a good belt, and a shirt with some room under it can do for you. I have a better belt than pictured, and I have roomier shirts than pictured, and I have less "tactical" pants ... but you'd never know I was packing (unless you knew where to look) with what I took shots of for that old thread.

The Supertuck is awesome. I have one for my CZ-82 (that I do carry, I have a C&R and couldn't pass it up) and I am going to order one soon for my newly purchased G19, after I buy a few bricks of 9mm.

A good belt is a **MUST***. I have a Beltman. I haven't tried anything else and haven't wanted to.

I thought for sure that everyone could see my gun when I first started carrying. Now, I owb a detective special knock off in a simply rugged holster with a t shirt.

It's all about the comfort level.
