looking at a glock 36. what kind of accuracy can i expect at 50'? can i shoot 200gr LSWC in it?

A Glocks will eat anything you feed it and beg for more.

Expect combat accuracy, I'd say between 4" and 6"

Glocks are fine pistols, give one a try :D

everything you feed them except Lead. be careful. Glocks refling doens't like lead, and their manual says it very clearly.

Sure, Glocks will eat anything... So will rats that have part of the hypothalmus destroyed by a surgical laser... they eat and eat and eat until they die.
Much like a Glock... it will eat and eat and eat and then all the sudden spontainiously self destruct. If you want a Glock, don't get one in anything bigger than 9MM... if you do... you run the risk of a KB.

No lead, no problem. As far as Kb!s I know of none in the G36 using factory non-lead ammo. Accuracy is going to be better than the shooter is capable of in 98% of all shooters.

Another Glock hater heard from. I'm starting to get sick. I have a 36 and shoot it a lot. It is a very good carry gun. As far as shooting it at 50 yards, it wasn't made for that. At 25 yards it will hit what I aim at if I do my job right. I rather think that there are more kaBooms in the heads of Glock haters then in Glock guns.

why do some people get so offended by the Glock

I had one and it was an awsome handgun, never exploded, never failed.

then all the sudden spontainiously self destruct
:scrutiny:

whatever man, whatever.

I never had a Ford Pinto catch fire while I was driving it either... Guess that means they were just fine.

Of course my Dad had one that did.... but at least that didn't happen to ME, right?

No, they were defective cars, but I see your point.

Almost all the Glock KB's I've heard of stem from somone shooting lead and useing bad handloads, which is warned against in the Glock manual.

George,

Both were in .40. And both were using reloaded ammunition or lead bullets.

How'd I do?

Come on George, Dean Spier is the biggest flake currently quoted on the internet. The guy is a total jackarse and guntalk is drivel......

There is a reason Dean is not published anymore and a reason for the multiple aliases he was published under. When the tide goes out we find out quickly who was swimming naked.

Still don't understand why people refer folks to Dean's website to warn them off Glocks over 9mm. On the same site Spier mentions shooting his G-21 regularly at GSSF competitions, and praising the G-30 as one of the best CC weapons ever made:confused:

Dean does have feud with Glock over how they have addresed a few issues. Can't say I blame him on some of those though.

As to those who say glocks will 'kb', show me ONE that was not shot with bad (crap reload or lead) ammo, and I will show you the Tooth Fairy.

Don't shoot lead in your Glock. It's too advanced for it, use a proper jacketed round, and don't gum-up your reloads.

I have a G34, it is nothing short of awesome.

It shoots exactly where I point it at any range, it is far more accurate than I am.

It is target-pistol accurate, and absolutely WILL go 'bang' each and every time I pull the trigger.

And I would bet good money it is working fine long after I am dead and gone.

ok if i want to continue shooting LSWC as i do in my 1911 but would like a glock like platform, what other choices are there?

A replacement barrel will allow you to shoot lead in your Glock. Wolf 9mm is cheap, so I don't bother currently. ;)

I've seen three guns ka-boom, one of which was a Glock. One was a Kahr MK-9, one was an HK something-or-orther compact in .40, and the last was a Glock 27.
I believe faulty ammo was the cause in all three incidents.

I was holding the MK-9 when it kb'd, and was in the stall directly next to the other kb's (helped to calm the folks down, check for injury, look over the remains of the gun, etc.) (Curiously people tried to blame Wolf ammo for the MK-9 KB, when I had S&B loaded at the time. ;) ) Any gun will go boom, and I don't see that Glocks are any more likely to do so than any other make.

My Glock safety advice:

Don't shoot lead. Watch your handloads. Don't shoot cheap gunshow reloads.

Beren

You just can't be telling the truth.

Every internet "expert" KNOWS that the Glock is the ONLY pistol that has ever blown up.

So therefor you have to be lying.

They also "know" that Glocks explode at the rate of thousands a day and that at least 650,000 people have been killed and at least a million wounded because of exploding .40 Glocks.

They also "know" that since the .40 caliber is known to explode then ALL other calibers do also.

They also "know" that never in the history of the world has a 1911 ever had a malfunction and a Steyr can not possibly have an AD.

I own a Glock 23 and have introduced several shooters to SD guns with the Glock. I've never felt compelled to warn them that there is a good chance that it will blow up in their hand. But I don't shoot lead through it (the manual very clearly says not to) and I don't used anything hotter than Winchester White Box box and a few Golds Dots, Golden Sabers etc...

I've never had a Glock KB and I don't know anyone first hand that has experienced or seen one either but I wouldn't be thrilled about the idea of trying to work up a hot lead load for one either.

I'd buy a 9mm, 10mm or 45ACP Glock with confidence but that's just one guys opinion. :)

One was a .40 firing factory ammo... the other was a .45 shooting jacketed remanufactured... Black Hills. Neither was rolled at home.
Like Dean Spier or not, that's not the issue. He has collected some very good information on the subject of Glock KB's that flies in the face of the typical Glock Bevet that says things like "KB's don't happen" or they only happen with reloaded .40s."
I don't HATE Glocks... I had a 17 before Glocks were even considered cool. I purchased it the moment it hit the shelf for the first time at GreenTop Sporting Goods in Virginia. It was a fine shooter. Nothing special, no killer accuracy or super slick feel... it was just an everage gun but I liked it... I liked how low it sat in the hand. Would I buy another? Chances are low... but if I did, it would be a 9MM because I agree with Dean that the larger calibers should be avoided. At least with factory barrels. I've not heard a report of a Glock with an aftermarket barrel going KB.
If you have a Glock in .40 .45 or 10MM... and you like it - fine. Be my guest. Just don't be offended if I don't happen to share your opinion.

If you buy one Glock, you'll be hooked. Or at least I am. I bought a G19c, and now I have two more Glocks with intentions to buy a 4th....

They really are awesome guns. So easy to use. I highly recommend any of them. I have never had a problem with any of mine.

I just bought a well carried G27. Can't tell if it was shot alot, but will be sure to clean any lead outa the barrel before I shoot it. And Mr. minnesota oldie, the original post asked about accuracy at 50 feet, not yards....

If you look closely one of the photos on Dean's site of the KB Glocks HAS an aftermarket barrel.

Or at least the picture was up for a long time and several people has noticed it.

I spent one hour on his BS site and that was enough to last me a lifetime.

I know he posts here so I will not get into detail about my opinion of him. He already knows it.

When I encounter him on this board I am nice and so far he has been nice to me. I would like to keep it that way on THIS board.
