New To Glocks

Try a little harder okay, because your boarderline already. "his BS site" Come on... you know your edging up to it.

One of them has an aftermarket barrel? Wow. I didn't catch that. That's not cool. Then again, a double charge or a push back could KB anything... but still... there are a lot of Glocks going up.

there are a lot of glocks being sold. Probably moreso that other makes, and people tend to shoot the heck out of their glocks. Given the un-supported chamber I guess I can understand glocks blowing a case more often than other, less popular brands.

very interesting info--most beyond me. i am still curious about a reliable or less controversial glock-like platform for LSWC .45 ACP.

I think the most "Glock like" models would be the Steyr M series, Springfield XD, S/W/Walther Sigma/99 series. Only one I know of that is available in 45 is the S/W 99. Know nothing about it personally other than it has a polymer frame and metal slide/bbl like the Glock.

Just to be nosey why so set on the .45 LSWC load???

economics. i have easy access to large supplies of lead loads for very reasonable prices.

Come on, George. There are also a lot of GM vehicles involved in accidents, you know.

At last count, I've owned over a dozen Glocks in all calibers except .45GAP. Every one of them has gone bang every time the trigger was pulled. None of them have blown up in my face. That includes a G17, three G19s, a G20, a G22, a G23C, two G26s, a G29, a G30, a G31, a G32, and a G33.

Glocks work...as good as any other gun and better than most. They're clunky, homely, and they have no soul, but they freakin' work.

Ahh understand. Once bought a .40 just because I had access to a lot of "surplus" ammo ;)

I guess I have the ONLY Glock in the world that shoots 230 LRN bullets and after 1500 rounds has not had any problems. That would be my Nov 1997 G30. It also does very well with the FAC 400 Corbon bbl, although it shoots about 7 inches low at 25 yds with that bbl ( 155 JHP @ 1375 fps).

People, you got to be able to sort the wheat from the chaff!!!!!!!!

You could alwase just get a drop in replacement barrel to go with the night sights you'll probably end up wanting.

Glock Stock sights are pathetic, the front blade in perticular is especially pathetic.

well put :D

But I don't shoot lead through it (the manual very clearly says not to)
Not unless they've changed it recently. I've been through several Glock manuals, and not one of them has said one word--pro or con--about using lead bullets.

jc2,

They must have changed them then, because mine clearly said, I believe in big red letters not to shoot lead due to the polygonal rifleing.

rjk7425;

As I've mentioned elsewhere here, my girlfriend own a new G36, and I've shot it enough to be thoroughly familiar with it. I own a G21 that has seen +250,000 rounds without a single failure to feed, fire, or extract.

The G36, being light and short will be a litle fiesty, if you're unaccustomed to recoil from a polymer-framed pistol, but it's no big thing. Accuracy? Bowling pins at 25 yards are easy - just keep track of good trigger control, and the short sight radius. I consider my HK USP Compact in .45acp much easier to shoot, but it's a whole different species.

Don't shoot lead ammo. Just don't do it - not out of any polyogonal-rifled barrel. Shoot jacketed (preferrably not plated, or copper-washed) ammunition.

As this thread illustrates, there's strong opinions, pro and con about Glocks. Do some homework, and decide for yourself. Personally, I hope to buy a G36 in the future as a more compact, full-power concealed carry option to my Kimber Stainless Compact, and the aforementioned HK USPc.

You might not find it to be that much smaller. It is lighter, and 'smoother', no hammer or beavertail, and therefore is more comfortable to carry in some holsters - like IWB - I find. I happend to have shot a pic with my Wilson KZ Compact.

My G36 is growing on me. I try to shoot about a dozen rounds through it every time I go to the range, so that if I ever decide to carry it, the trigger will be familiar. It's the only Glock I own.

I'm planning on carrying it in a KL Null drop rig - followed with a FIST #70 vertical shoulder holster.

The size/weight combination works perfectly for me. I'm very comfortable with the Glock trigger - I find no acuracy or familiarity problems when I switch between my pistols (perhaps because I only own a few).
