Just put some TFO's on my 229. Great sights! Crazy bright, cant miss them, They line up nicely for natural pointing. much brighter than my old siglites in the dark, but i think those were nearing the end of their service life.
Seem to be pretty rugged, but im sure its possible to damage them. just have to see how much they can take as this is my carry gun.
I shot well with them, but im not sure if it was the sights or because i learned so much shooting the FNP 45 w/ laser for the first time today as well.

Hope they last longer than mine did. I had two sets fail in under a year.

 What happened? Did the company cover the product? I've had no problems with the set on my Sig 229.

I've read the rods can fly out....actually, I've read they ALL eventually come loose. Having said that, I suspect they are easy to repair and the fiber optic rod is available for real cheap...maybe $5/foot.

I put a set on my HK USP 45. They are OK, but not as bright, indoors, as simple white paint. They need some good overhead light to really light up. At night the green front sight is pretty similar to my other Tritiums in the dark, while the yellow rear sight is a tiny bit dimmer.

One other negative is the long front sight reduces the sight radius a small amount.

Overall, since mine haven't failed yet, I like them better than most Tritiums (like Trijicons) which I find much harder to see during the day. Metrolite TruGlos, are proably pretty close though, with their thick white outlines.

Peter,

I maybe a bit of a newbie I guess, but what part numbers did you choose for your P229? I know they have a choice between Sig #6,#8 and Sig #8,#8. I'm assuming Sig #8, #8, is that correct?

Thanks,
Z

No, I did #6 front #8 rear, which was what was already there and what sig recommends for .40. #8/#8 is recommended for 9mm.
Seemed to be correct for my 229 in .40

Disaster- You really think white paint is as bright as these? They seem to glow like they are on fire w any overhead light, even dim. Its really the whole reason i got them as i found reg night sites to be hard to see except in total dark.

I have them on my P229-DAK and love them as well. A nice touch I added is to paint the area around the front capsule with red-orange fluorescent paint to make the front sight stand out better in daylight.

Very much so...and I'm not alone. My kids shot with me last time and made the same comments.

At the last two ranges I was at, the overhead lights were very poor. At both ranges, my plain white painted sights showed up better. That was especially true with poor overhead lights combined with a well lit target (outdoor range where we shot from a poorly lit covered building.) In that case these sights looked almost like plain black sights.

With decent lighting they do really glow, like you said, and the do fine in total darkness like tritiums.

The best all around performing night sights I have found are luminescent painted ones, using Super Luminova (aka Lumbrite), the same material used on watch Seiko watch hands. These things stood out in all conditions but required a "pre-charge" to work in the dark. Just a couple minutes in the sun or with exposure to a flashlight and they glowed sufficiently all night. Right after charging they are stupid bright in the dark (for about 15-30 minutes.) I'm a bit concerned that they might be so bright that they would make it harder to see the target. Lumbrites come standard on the HK45.

Well, took the 229 out for another spin. It was drizzling and dark and the sights were super bright. Great picture. Here are my targets, I think I did pretty well, better than with my other sights, certainly. I'm using 14rnd SCT mags, so i get a few flyers when I dont stop long enough to rest my arm. First target is 10yds w/ WWb 165gr, then 15yds, same ammo, 3rd one is 15yds w/ Rem golden sabre 165gr using the 12 rnd mag. Im always surprised how this round has a little more recoil than the WWB even though they are supposed to be ballistically similar.

Sorry for the late reply, didn't catch your question. Anyways, my fiber rods came loose and grew wings as a result of recoil. As for warranty, 90-days and you are on your own. So, the warranty $ucks in my opinion and I tend to shoot on average 21,000 rounds per year through my G34 during various training and IDPA matches and the sights didn't last very long.
