NICS delays

I used to get delayed nearly every time I tried to purchase a firearm. No idea why. Former fed LEO and clean record with all sorts of security clearances. My FFL just released the guns to me anyway and the checks always came back within a day or two.
Wait, your FFL released the firearm to you right away, even though you were delayed? He was supposed to wait at least 3 business days or until the “delay” turned into a “proceed”, whichever came first.

Yeah.........that's page 1 of "How to Lose Your FFL"
Or maybe even “How to Get a Federal Indictment”?. I honestly don’t know if transferring a firearm without a completed background check is something the feds would indict that dealer for, but a manager at one of our competitors recent got a federal indictment for knowingly transferring four handguns to an out-of-state resident, and that seems to be a less-serious offense in my non-lawyer, layman opinion.

I guess I’m one if the lucky ones that gets delayed every time I purchase a rifle or handgun .Ive had my pistol permit in ny since 2002 and haven’t had any trouble with the law .Is there some list that I’m on ? .

Ever have any trouble doing an airline boarding pass/check-in, online or from one of the kiosks,
at airport?

I kept getting "unable to complete transaction at this time" online, and at airport, the kiosk
sent me to the counter...where clerk would look at my license, frown, look at screen, and
eventually checked me in.

This same thing happened about five more times, that year. Eventually one of the check-in
clerks told me "you have the same name as a guy on the no-fly list."
Turned out TSA had a
'travelers redress program', and issued me number to provide, during check-in. Sounds
similar to what someone else mentioned, as a NICS pin...

That's what I mean't. I had to wait a day or two and not the maximum ten day wait it could have been.

I have been delayed while i had a current FFL. For about a year i was delayed. Did not matter if i used my SSN on the form. Found it funny that i has a FFL and would be delayed. then all of a sudden, i was never delayed since. this was back in 09.
