NJ Gun Grab

I have no problem with this guy's guns, ammos, or evil evil 30 round mags. Heck, just about every gunny I know in NJ has a couple of 30 rounders stashed somewhere.

I *do* question the wisdom of casually storing EIGHT HUNDRED POUNDS of powder in your garage, which more than anything else was probably the motivation for the authorities to figure out how to get the stuff out of there.

That one fact is what will win general public sympathy from fence sitters.

Of course, there's plenty of folks who don't really understand what 800 lbs of powder means, and are only reacting to the guns, and don't even bother to question the "authorities" on the matter of taking them away from an old man. :barf:

if that 800 lbs of gunpowder was for a pistol, it represents about 800,000 reloads ;0

I live on the PA side of the river from Jersey. Also know as "Free America".

The wife and I like to visit the Jersey shore, but that's about it. I'll never live in that Stalinist cesspool.

Back during the AWB days I did pick up a pre-ban M1A with all USGI parts (except for the SA, Inc. receiver) from a guy in North Jersey for $900 shipped. He was getting rid of it because he got nervous every time he took it to the range. He felt as if Big Brother was watching him, and it was just a matter of time before he got caught with the verboten weapon. I felt bad for the guy but gladly took it for what he wanted.

Sadly, M1As were never banned in NJ. The poor schlub was afeared of the *appearance* of noncompliance with the law.

People shouldn't live in fear.

I am so glad I left that cesspool of socialism. Anything is legal in Nj as long as your a politican or with the police.

I am surprised the NRA or some gun group did not take his case...
You can't be serious, can you? Oh wait you are.

No way would the great compromisers of the NRA take a case like that.

It would be too easy for the media to paint them as some kind of gun whack job organization for even considering defending the old man. Never mind the old guy didn't do anything illegal except maybe violate a few fire codes (and that's doubtful since he wasn't charged with that but instead some nebulous BS "endangering the community") the fact that he had - OMG! 500 unregistered guns and OH MY! The world is ending - 75,000 rounds of ammunition would be enough for the media to crucify the NRA and really make them look bad.

God Forbid the NRA should look bad when they're the number 1 defenders of freedom. Can't have that. Besides it'd compromise their position as the great compromisers - can't get along with antis defending old guys like that.

Afterall isn't getting along with ANTI's what the NRA is all about?

I guess there is something to be said when your power capacity reaches the point where you start measuring its yeild in kilotons.

If you read the story, it says he had a prior conviction. That means he was not eligible to own any firearms under Jersey law. Other wise he would have been in the clear, except for the 30 round mag, which is illegal, only 15 rounds are legal in Jersey.
