Was thinking about picking up a Winchester Featherweight in .308 to fill a void. Sheesh even "like new" ones are going for at or above MSRP.

Other option is a Tikka T3 for about $300 less but man I really want the Win. Just venting a little.

I got one last year with a rebate, got $40 back. I felt cheated but I wanted that featherweight.

Ringer, Bass Pro in Savannah has a fwt. in 7mm08 for $749 as of tonight. I asked the guy if that was the price that would apply if they could find a .308 and he said as far as he knew it would be. I bought a .243 there a couple months ago and it was $779. their ph.# is 912-961-4200 if your interested.

Thanks john843. There is a Bass Pro not too far from where I work. Maybe I will swing by there next week and talk to them.

$725 is pretty standard price for a Featherweight. They don't give them away, but they are very nice. I found mine for $699 and was glad to pay it.

Those prices are more what I would expect and pay. I can't find any for under $900. I do have a one or two more local places to check with on ordering.

Gunbroker link? I'm not finding anything near that price. I don't use Gunbroker much maybe my search skills are lacking.

www.budsgunshop.com shows them at $751, but no 308 in stock. Winchester has never been able to keep up with demand. They are in the process of moving production to Portugal right now so supplies may be down because of a break in production. That will likely drive up USA made versions at least temporarily.

Gun companies make things seasonally. I'd expect supplies to be better in the Spring and Summer too.

I did find a 7-08 for $719. Might be close enough.

Yeah, I have found them at a couple places with a decent price but on backorder. Prefer it to be .308 as I have a small stock pile of ammo from a previous gun. Gonna keep watching as I'm not in a enough of hurry/need to over pay. I'm not a hunter so guess I really didn't think about the seasonality (if that's a word).

Thanks

Well that stinks. Made (and assembled) in the USA was part of my attraction to the Model 70.

Same here. I was considering a new Model 70 down the road, but have no interest in buying one made in Portugal.

Being made here in South Carolina was a big plug IMHO. Maybe I'll be able to find a good used one eventually.
