No more burst fire mode?

I was issued both the M16A1 and M16A2 when I was in the Army. I can say from personal experience that the semi-auto trigger pull was better on the A1 compared to the A2.

This is correct. Best trigger I had on an M16 was an A1 that was probably Vietnam era that was modded to an A1. It had a metal clip added that prevented the movement of selector to full auto. The M4 I was issued was three round burst, as was the A2 I carried in Iraq.

All my training was in semi. We usually used burst during night fire training and with blanks when we were screwing off.
