Only do this if you're serious about putting out the cash today, as some parts are a one-time offer apparently.
Go to: https://www.nramemberservices.org/default.asp
Register or log-in if you've been there before
Click on the 'Charlton Heston Legacy Program' icon (big gold thing)
Work through the menus, and when you get to the screen where you select your points/contributions you need to get 550 points additional points (you start with 50). 600 Legacy Points and $240 buys you a Life membership.
Here's the easy way to get the points:
Renewing membership for one year for $35 (100 pts),
providing your email address (50 pts),
$8 strike force contribution (100 pts)
and signing up and using the credit card (300 points; you get 150 for signing up and 150 the first time you use the card)
The 100 points for renewal and the 100 points for $8 strike force contribution appear to be one-time only, so dont go past that screen if you dont intend to go through with it today.
When the credit card arrives, call the NRA and charge the $240 fee to the credit card, which gets you the last 150 points you need.
And there you go, an NRA life membership for $283.
