New Yorkers Want Full Term From Clinton
By MARC HUMBERT AP Political Writer

(AP) - ALBANY, N.Y.-The majority of New York voters said Hillary Rodham Clinton deserves to be re-elected to the Senate next year, but want her to pledge to serve a full, six-year term if she runs, a statewide poll reported Thursday. :what:

The Democratic former first lady made such a pledge in 2000 when she ran for the Senate. Clinton, leading in the polls for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination, has yet to offer such a pledge this time around. :barf:

Sixty-five percent of Democrats polled by the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute said she should pledge to serve a full term if she runs for re-election, but 61 percent also said they would like her to run for the White House in 2008. Overall, 41 percent of New York voters said she should run for president, including 17 percent of Republicans. :banghead: :cuss: :banghead:

There was no immediate comment from Clinton.

Clinton had 2-1 or better leads over several potential Senate opponents and 67 percent of voters said she deserves to be re-elected.

"There doesn't seem to be oomph behind any of the Republicans mentioned as possible challengers," said Maurice Carroll, director of the Hamden, Conn.-based polling institute.

New York Republicans have been struggling to find a big-name opponent to take on Clinton next year. Republican Gov. George Pataki has said he's not interested and a top political aide to Rudolph Giuliani said recently the former New York City mayor was too busy with private business interests to run for office next year. Both Pataki and Giuliani are believed to be eyeing possible 2008 presidential runs.

Quinnipiac's telephone poll of 1,191 registered voters was conducted April 28-May 2 and has a sampling error margin of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

So how come the math adds up to waaay too many demoncratized persons in the Empire State wanting to have their cake and eat it too?

Never mind - just remembered that if you are a liberal the .gov can give it to you from both directions.

stay safe.

Maybe they can get Bob Dole to run. :)

Back to topic...She'll make that pledge to serve out a full term. When dealing with the Clintons, if we haven't leanred they will say and do almost anything to reach their goals we haven't learned anything.

Hillary should get a full term . . .

Let me be the first NY'er to say: I've never met anyone who voted for her the first time!

I wish I could say the same thing. I live near Albany. Alot of my neighbors are elderly people & NYC tranplants. Need I say more :cuss:

Foghorn. You beat me to it.

Unfortunately, I'm surrounded by liberals around here. They even invited her to this tiny burg in 2002. Fortunately, I left town before daylight that morning.

In fact she hangs around the north country a lot. There aren't enough votes here to attract anyone's attention so my guess is that she hangs out here 'cause it's only a hop, skip and a jump to Canada in case she has to get out fast.

That's funny - as though a Clinton's promise to not run for political office was worth anything.

Bill swore up and down that he would not run for President during his last gubernatorial campaign in Arkansas. Of course, he decided he wanted to run for President after he had been re-elected governor. His excuse was that he had talked to so many Arkansans who wanted him to run for President and released him from his pledge.

but want her to pledge to serve a full, six-year term if she runs, a statewide poll reported Thursday.

If you think about it, that's a pretty heavy sacrifice New Yorkers are willing to make for the good of the country!

Talk about taking one for the rest of us......... :D

Pledges mean nothing to politicians.

She wants to run in 2008, but I think the first woman president should be someone special...certainly not the gungrabbing Hildibeast.

Giuliani in 2008? Better him than that RINO McCain.

Just once I would like to hear one of these guys running for president say something like:

'I will never support or sign any anti-gun legislation, and I promise to work to appeal any Federal anti-gun legislation passed since 1934."

>Sigh<

:( Yeah, I read that AP story this morning and all I could do is shake my let my head sag and let out a deep sigh...

I think the GOP needs to pull a Jimmy Carter manuver. Bring in someone new enough, but with enough experience to win over the US people. Anyone have any ideas as to who it could be???

It makes little difference which of these parasites steals the office of president. Any of the three are leftist hacks without any decent moral or constitutional compass and none are fit for anything above dog catcher, or prison trusty.

Some bright soul better come up with a serious conservative, NOW, or we can write off the growth of the Repub Party and every accomplishment towards limiting corrupt leftist destruction of this country made in the past eight or ten years. Any of the three listed above if appointed(I refuse to dignify such garbage with the word "elected") could see nothing but a mandate to push socialist policies, gun-grabbing among them.

I hate to pop your bubble, but Rudy Giuliani has a long and glorified history as an anti-gun prosecutor and then mayor. Ron Paul may be the ONLY Republican who is solidly on our side.

It looks like Mitt Romney is going to run:
Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in a recent secret Washington meeting with national political operatives signaled he probably will forego seeking re-election in 2006 in order to pursue the 2008 Republican presidential nomination.
Another RINO, great.

Some good news is, Dean isn't showing the money:
Democratic National Committee (DNC) fund raising under the chairmanship of Howard Dean shows a disappointing $16.7 million raised in the first quarter of 2005, compared with $34 million reported by the Republicans.
Heyaaaaaa!

When the "choices" for president are a handful of Democrats and a handful of RINOs, is there really any choice at all? If any of this pans out, I think I'll be voting Libertarian in 2008.

It's worse than that. Hillery will be the democratic nominee. And she will win unless the republicans pull their heads out of the third point of contact, and get a real candidate.

A Hillery administration would be a utter disaster for America.

in all honesty, I almost think another Clinton presidency would be better than a Guiliani or McCain presidency. I don't think Clinton is all that much worse on gun control than Guiliani and McCain would only be slightly better than either of the other two. At least with Clinton, pro-RKBA people would be more likely to realize/acknowledge that the prez is trying to screw them over. There are way too many people who see the two RINOs as good republicans, and electing either of them would result in the Republican party moving even farther to the left on all issues, including gun control.

Those won't be great, in truth. But my great fear is Hillary using Executive Orders to de facto strip us of our RKBA, as well as pack the courts with activist liberal judges who will make it their mission to kill the 2nd amendment.
