Finally, some good news on the political front - Hillary won't win. The bad news is that Giuliani was favored by 28 percent of possible GOP primary voters while Sen. John McCain of Arizona had the support of 24 percent. Other potential Republican contenders were in single digits.

I'll admit, I don't know which is worse - Hillary, Rudy or McCain. I'd probably vote 3rd party in that one.

Also, 80 percent don't think Condoleezza Rice could win presidency

ALBANY, N.Y. - Two-thirds of Americans believe Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton will run for president, but only one-third believe she can win, according to a national poll released Wednesday.

Almost 80 percent said they don't think Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, a Republican, could win the White House either.

Gender is a factor, pollster Lee Miringoff said.

"It looks like whether you treat them together or separately, it would certainly be an uphill fight for either of them, and clearly part of that has to do with a continuing reluctance on the part of a large number of American voters to think in terms of a woman in the White House," said Miringoff, the head of Marist College's Institute for Public Opinion.

Twenty-seven percent of voters said they were not likely to vote for a woman candidate in 2008 no matter which party ticket she headed, according to the poll sponsored by WNBC-TV in New York City. Of that 27 percent, almost one-third said they wouldn't back a female candidate because "women are not up to the job" while 10 percent said it was because the presidency is "a man's job."

Clinton mum on plans
Clinton has not said if she will run for president in 2008, maintaining that her focus is on re-election this year. Rice has said she has no interest in running for president.

As with other national polls, Clinton led the list of potential contenders for the Democratic presidential nomination. She had the support of 33 percent of potential primary voters in the WNBC/Marist poll to 17 percent for former Vice President Al Gore, 16 percent for John Edwards and 11 percent for John Kerry. No other Democrat broke into double digits.

On the Republican side, former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani was favored by 28 percent of possible GOP primary voters while Sen. John McCain of Arizona had the support of 24 percent. Other potential Republican contenders were in single digits.

The poll had McCain beating Clinton, 52 percent to 42 percent, while the former first lady and Giuliani were running about even.

Thirty-six percent of voters said they liked Clinton more than they did two years ago, but 33 percent said they liked her less.

Marist's telephone poll of 931 registered voters was conducted Feb. 13 and Feb. 15 and had a sampling error margin of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

I'm looking forward to the Democratic dream ticket and I won't settle for less: Hillary Rodham Clinton for President, Al Sharpton as Vice-President.

Oh, what choices. Hillary Clinton, Rudy Giuliani and John McCain. Let's see, we've got a socialist Democrat and two freedom loving Republicans. To vote for any of that trio I'd need to bring the Hefty air sickness bag into the booth with me. Has this nation really come to this?

The nation *has* come to this, Rick. Sometimes there's nothing at the end of the tunnel but a brick wall.
Biker

Giuliani is the only one with a chance in hell.

The rest are Senators, with lots of juicy quotes and nasty video, and no real leadership experience in politics. Senators are bull????ters, not leaders, and that comes out in the election. Does any sane person see Clinton or McCain as leaders? They both seem like attention whores to me, and from what I know, to a LOT of other people.

I believe the last ex-Senator to win was Nixon, and he had been Vice President in between. So the last actual Senator to win was JFK, in 1960. He was the first TV President. There is an important link.

Every other President in the past 40 years had been a Governor or a VP, and JFK's predecessor had been a General.

I think that both parties will find other candidates than these three.

I think im gonna start diggin a nice big hole in my backyard to hide in. It should be done by the end of 2008. This is going to be a nasty 4 years, and the forcast past then doesnt look too great either.

Allow me to be non-PC.

Rudy Guiliani is an divorced Italian Catholic from New York City who is anti-gun, pro-abortion, womanizing, lispy, cancer victim. Is he the kind of guy who will appeal to middle American values and Southern Sons?

Repubs don't have anyone attractive ready for '08. Rice is the only one who could (and she should be President, only high-level pol competent for the job), but has zero experience running for office. No Republican has media support.

Dems have a few - very few - possibilities. McCain is probably their most viable choice (precisely because he's an R, but so far left that he should be a D). Hillary is the only true Democrat, and the only one with enough charisma & name recognition & sheer fire to get the nomination. Others, like Gore & Kerry, will run - but only so Hillary has someone to ostensably run against for the nomination; they can't win. Democrats have total mass-media support, and Hillary is the dream candidate for the uber-Feminists who control that media.

The Republicans have nobody at this point.
The Democrats only have Hillary, and she is supported by a small but absolutely FIERCE contingent who have the drive and influence to do ANYTHING to get her elected.

And then there's this little thing called "McCain-Feingold". Remember that? The thing that says: 2 months from an election, only the leftist mass media can speak? and remember how much they HATE Republicans?

Hillary will win.

Actually, I'm more interested in her VP. :scrutiny:

Not to mention he left his wife on her death bed for another woman. That is just cold.

The best thing the Democrats can do is run the gov of Virginia. He is kinda like a Bill Clinton style Democrat without an evil socialist wife shispering in his ear.

He could still f things up, but, I like him better than Guiliani?!? Hillary?!? any neo-con you bring me, and any left cost, or northeastern socialist you bring.

Right now, the traditional conservative who wants to get rid of government needs to make a comeback. I would hope the libertarians in the party take note, and begin to move to take back the party from the insanity.

Sorry. We joined the Libertarian Party and are currenty totally engrossed in our own little circle jerk. I guess the country is screwed.

Never fear about Hillary's choice of VP if she wins the nomination. The VP will be chosen for two criteria,i.e, the perceived ability to attract votes from a doubtful region of the nation, and, most importantly, someone who no even vaguely sane person would prefer to see as a replacement for Hilary...life insurance.

Same as Cheney's value to Bush. Even Bush's most virulent enemies would not voluntarily promote Cheney to the top job.

I don't think either of the Republicans mentioned will get the nomination. Both are too liberal for many of us. I admit I don't know who is likely at this point. Of the ones mentioned, or anyone in the Dem party, I would prefer Rice.

Sorry, he doesn't appeal to this guy of middle American values. And he wouldn't be getting my vote either. (And this is a Catholic speaking!)

??

Unfortunately. I think Hillery has a much better shot tham that current poll:uhoh:

I'd be more likely to vote for Clinton/Sharpton than for McCain or Giuliana. At least you know what you're getting when you vote for the radical libs.

:barf:

The best hope is 4 years of gridlock until a real leader emerges. Dare I say a real Christian, compassionate conservative IMHO? After all, it's America! :neener:

From their own mouths

I can totally see the Demosocialist party propping up Frau Hillary for a run - they are blinded by their socialist Jihad. I don't think she would win an honest election, as alot of liberals/Dems despise her.

My fear is that Frau Hillary will run, and her moonies will find a way to steal the election for her. The Demosocialist party has tried to steal the last two Presidential elections - especially in 2000 with their blatant effort - but have not yet been successful.

The Demosocialist party does not care about what the voters say and they will do anything to win. They have undenialbly demonstrated as much not once, but twice in recent memory.

Blinded by their rage over Kerry's defeat in 2004, the farthest-gone zealots among them asked the question, "Is it ethical to shoot (and presumably kill) Republicans?"

So there you have it - gun banning Demosocialist zealots are willing to kill Republican voters to get their way. These are the words from their own mouths.
