Well, it's a start and good news for me since I travel to Ohio 3 or 4 times a year.

Florida
Idaho
Kentucky
Michigan
North Carolina
Washington
Wyoming

Here is the link.

I just stumbled across this and didn't see it posted on THR yet.

Yahooo!!!!!

Of course this probably means that I have to wear my pancake holster outside of my shirt those days when I'm driving up into OH rather than my traditional IWB  .

Oh well, even that little problem is worth a GREAT BIG :D .

Yeah, uh.

Do yourself a fave, too. Make sure you follow the stupid-arsed in-car carry requirement, and if you can find something documenting reciprocity, carry it with you in case you get gigged by someone who hasn't read his legal updates this month. ;)

WooHooo!!! This means when I'm done visiting my Dad in PA I can drive to Indiana to visit my Mom's side of the family without having to disarm myself!

That's what, 26 states that honor Florida permits now? I think even without a federal law we will eventually have reciprocity in all states.

EXCELLENT!!!

Im so happy I got my Florida license. Anyone that CCW's and travels needs to have a Florida license.

Im a misplaced Buckeye. Born in Lorain, living in Tucson.:uhoh:

I would think so. The disadvantage is that one could always run across a cop who has not heard of the reciprocity agreement. This should be rare (hell, it should be impossible), but we live in the real world. Any CCW charge would get tossed in court, but it is still inconvenient in the extreme at the time of arrest.

IIRC, the law states that reciprocity agreemenst shall be negotiated between states with similar standards as Ohio. Last time I checked, PA had no training time requirements in place (at least thats how it was when I got my PA license). I wouldn't hold my breath on PA/OH reciprocity.

If you go to the link above, on the right hand side it has a linked list of states that reciprocity applies to, if you click that link it has a signed copy of the OH/FL reciprocity agreement. After posting I read that link and in section #3 of that agreement pretty much answered everything I needed to know :D .

It's interesting that Indiana isn't on that list. We've had CCW for just about ever and right next door. Or has it already happened and I missed it?
Nationwide CCW has my vote, why can't we get an elected official to try it?

Coronarch,

Washington has no training requirement, and we have reciprocity with Ohio. There's nothing stopping Ohio from signing agreements with Pennsylvania or Indiana. Indiana might refuse because I've never heard of Indiana actually signing an agreement.

There are five "shall-issue" states that do not have an actual recognition or reciprocity statute: Oregon, Nevada, New Mexico, Connecticut, and Rhode Island (yes, Rhode Island is shall issue, the SCRI ruled so, it's just a matter of getting them to follow the law). Rhode Island and Connecticut are unlikely to get permit reciprocity/recognition going within the next two years, but Nevada, New Mexico, and Oregon are strong possibilities. (Though, you can get non-res permits from RI and CT).

There are also a few states that have really piss poor reciprocity laws: Maine (they refuse to sign agreements), South Carolina (SLED interprets the law crappily, I've been told that GOSC and GRSC are going to team up and get universal recognition as the next time after OGAM repealed), Minnesota (DPS misinterpreting the law).

Get those states on the ball, and we'll have much more in the way of national reciprocity.

I think it is rather strange that they allow Florida. I also find it odd that KY and MI are the only 2 border states that have reciprocity and MI's gun laws are quite weird.

Does this mean that if I live in Ohio and get a Florida permit that I can carry in Ohio without an Ohio permit?
Yes, I’m pretty sure this is the case. I have also heard the requirements for getting a Florida CCW permit are much "easier" when compared to Ohio's. Plus I’ve heard you do not need to be a Florida resident to obtain a Florida permit. Hmm... :)
