I seem to often be susceptible to a good bargain.
For instance, my first Tikka was a T3 Lite in .270 when they popped up on sale for (as I recall) $349 at Sportsmans Warehouse several years ago. A couple years later I picked up a Weatherby Vanguard (Howa 1500) in .30-06 for $399 also on sale at Sportsmans Warehouse.
Now I received a promo email from EuroOptic regarding a close-out sale running on the Mauser M18 for $399 and $9.99 shipping. Too hard for this old man to resist, so I put my order in for one in .243 Winchester.

I have read some reviews of this rifle with the vast majority being quite positive. I have no dislike for push feed actions and have yet to experience a feeding or jamming problem with any of them. Including Remington 700's & 788's, Weatherby Vanguards, Savage 110's/112's, Tikkas, Sako M85's, Browning ABolts, etc. Some are smoother than others with Sako and Tikka ranking at the top and Remington near the bottom.

Now I am going to have a Mauser M18 to play with. How do y'all rate them in relation to similar budget priced rifles?

Good rifles, great for the -$500 price there going for now. Even seen some tikka guys like them, they don't say that very often. I have the 6.5prc from loonwulf, shoots great working up some loads now for it. Like to pick up a 243 and a 7remmag some day.

Hi, Troy,
Got mine from EuroOptic. $399 + $9.99 shipping + $34 tax: OTD $443.98 Will have a $20 transfer fee from my ffl, so total $463.98 placed in the safe. Not bad.
I have dies, brass, bullets and powder for .243, so this should be an interesting project for the short term. We'll see if it grows on me and has a permanent home or if I find a new home for it later.

Should shot real good, there the only 5 shot moa warranty rifle i can think of, one thing some guys notice some don't. Because the bolt has two ejectors and the way the bolt came is, you have to push the bolt all the way in then turn the bolt down. This is only noticed when working the bolt very slow and lazy like. With mine the but plate would make the smallest of rattle noise, only when is make it rattle never hire it when handled or shooting. I just put a few drops of gorilla clear glue, it edge like rubber on the part you pinch to remove the but plate. These are just my ocd kicking it.

From what I have read, these rifles have hammer forged barrels. So do Tikka rifles. It is my understanding that there are 2 critically important things with hammer forging a barrel: #1 the quality of the mandrel; #2 the post forging stress-relieving treatment (cryo, etc.)

Does anyone know what Mauser does for stress relieving their barrels?

Can't say exactly there stress relieving is, but mauser has been doing chf barrels about as long as anyone else. I have yet to see a m18 shoot over a inch shot probably.
