I've been hunting this management area in ne fl since 74. About 10 years ago I took my son and 2 of his friends deer hunting. I told Coulter who was 16 at the time to walk down this deer trail, find a place to sit and be still as he might get a shot at a deer. Much to my amazement he was back on the road in less than 5 minutes with a huge 10 point buck (head and antlers). I told him that was the find of a lifetime.

Fast forward about 2 hours I see this vehicle coming down the road. Turned out to be an old vw beetle driven by this older gent and his wife was with him. I told Coulter to show the gent his find. As soon as that man saw the horns he said "I shot that deer last year and couldn't find him". I told Coulter that that old gent may never shoot another deer and left it up to him as to give it to the man or not. He decided to keep it and I told him it was his decision.

Yesterday, Veterans Day I went hunting and I met this older guy on a curve in the woods. I asked him if he had any luck and he told me he had killed 2 bucks. He showed me a real heavy horned 8 point. He told me he was thinking of getting it mounted. I told him that he should. I didn't recognize him until I asked him if he used to hunt from an old blue vw beetle and he did. He remembered the deer that he killed, but could not find that Coulter still had. He is 85 now and has always hunted by himself due to some accidents early in his life while hunting. I asked him if he was a Vet and he replied "Korea". I thanked him for his service to our country and shook his hand. I'll have to keep an eye out for him as he hunts by himself and has no cell phone or any other means of communication. I think his wife passed so I don't know if anyone is keeping tabs on him or not.
