I have a 12 gauge model 335 marked (J. Stevens Arms & Tool Co), this gun was made before 1920 (production was 1912 to 1930). There is no marking on the barrel what the chamber length is. Does anyone know?
Do you know what a Stevens 2 9/16" or 2 3/4" chamber should measure?
Back when this gun was made, all shotgun shells had roll-crimps.
Todays star-crimp shells are longer when fired.
The 2 3/4" is the length of a fired shell.
Anyway, measuring accurately without a shotgun chamber guage is very hard to do, as the transition from chamber to forcing cone is generally too gradual to "feel" with a stick or ruler.
