Ontario Machetes

Ontario has held government contracts for a varity of GI issue knives, bayonets, and machettes over the years.

If they are good enough for GI Joe, they should be good enough for you & I.

As for the D-handle?
Some folks don't like them for heavy work because the D-handle guard wears blisters on your little finger over time.

bought one yesterday and i'd like to know whether i bought a quality product.
The only bad thing about them is that they have fairly thick blades so they aren't as quick on the swing and you use more energy swinging a thicker blade. They are definetly thicker than most machetes out there. The machetes themselves though are well made and take a good edge.

The Ontarios are well made. The handles need to be smoothed out however to help cut down on blisters (at least for me). I have a 12" "D handled" Ontario that gets used occasionally. It stays in one of my trucks and is there to be used when I need it. I also have one of the regulars that I prefer. Now, I have a new toy and look forward to trying out my new Condor Golok.

Ontario knives.

I have used a couple Ontario knives, and handled several. they mostly make a high quality bare bones line. I don't care for the handles that have some of the tang sticking out the rear, but they make full tang, tough, sharp items.

You probably got a good working knife. Your grand kids will argue over which one it was supposed to go to unless you stipulate.
