I recently had to redo my entire basement including my reloading/gun room. I am trying to decide on a mount that will allow me to move my smaller presses and maybe my small vice. the xl650 will probably stay permanent but I have 2 single stage presses and an old Hornady progressive I would like to be able o move to clear up bench space.

Depends on how big or thick you bench is. You can go simple(cheap) and just mount the press to a piece of plywood and then c clamp to the bench

On my first bench I could reach under the top, so just drilled holes for one press and dropped bolts through and used a washer and wing nut.

Or just mount some T nuts and you bolt into them,

I have a Rock Dock with extra mounting plates (plates stay on press. slide into the "dock" and the frame of the dock is tightened to hold the plate/press in place). Works quite well, but I rarely need to change presses (My Co-Ax does everything I need.). I also use t-nuts. I have other tools mounted on a 1x6x1 and bolt them to the bench top via t-nuts. The 5/16" holes in the top of the bench have been no problem in the 12 years I have been using the system.

RCBS makes a plate that is drilled and tapped for the bolt pattern of most of their equipment. Mount the plate to the bench then bolt whatever piece of equipment you want on it.

You could easily make one yourself that isnt just tailored to RCBS stuff.

I inlayed T-track into my bench and made 3/4” plywood mounts for my presses. I used 3/16” metal plate to reinforce the mounting plate.
I’m at work so this is the only picture I have, but it might give a better idea of what I’m trying to describe.

I wouldn't try it on a big progressive - or any time I'm really sitting down for some serious production - but I have several small presses bolted to chunks of 2x4 which can then simply be clamped into the bench vice. It seems cheesy, but if I just need to knock out a quick dozen of something it works surprisingly well.

With limited space, I load on my kitchen table. I Took an oak board 1x6 by12 inches, cut out 2x2 inch feet for it, mounted my Rock Chucker to it with the Uniflow mounted behind it, and C clamp it to my kitchen table. Works great, when done, I put it in my closet

The inline Fabrication mounts distribute the load over a larger area. Which make it stronger mount than bolting the press directly to your bench. Great got the AP presses and large caliber cartridges.

Add another like to the Inline Fabrication Quick change system. I've got a Dillon SDB on a plate, my RCBS Jr on another plate. I actually have another plate coming tomorrow for my RCBS lube sizer. Very good quality, and zero flex in the mounts. I am very pleased with mine.

Thats why my bench has a 1/4" steel plate on top. Well, maybe not the reason but definitely a benefit!

Yeah, there's a zillion better ways to do it than mine - but mine was free!

Oh, and thanks to @GeoDudeFlorida for showing us that no matter how cheap and trashy your solution, there's somebody out there doing it even worse. :neener:

I tried T tracks at my last house, didn’t end up really loving it as much as I thought I would, and I had fits with junk getting stuck in the tracks. I converted to Inline Fabrication Quick Change flush mounts - 3 positions on my bench, with the two different height risers on hand as well. Pretty sure I have 13 or 14 devices which I can mount, can’t recall if it was 13 before or after I got the Lee App for my son last year…? I made my own storage rack for the devices not in use, not sure I love it yet, but it’s working well.

ITN_25220.jpg I’ve used these with tons of success.

100# dry wall anchors. it only leaves a small mounting hole.

I've built free standing floor stands for my presses. They can be nested up against a wall for compact storage and then brought out to the reloading bench for use. Here is the stand for my RCBS Pro2000 shortly before completion.

I also have one each for a single stage press, Hornady L-N-L, Dillon BL550, and Dillon SDB. I have three SDB presses but one stand. I have Dillon bench top storage stands for the two not attached to the floor stand.

I sit when I reload so they are set to a convenient height for that but they could be taller.

Pat Marlin (https://patmarlins.com) makes the RockDock bench top press mounting system that works well.

Inline fabrication mounts here. I have a couple quick change plates to start using now that I have more than one press.
They distribute weight well and are well built.

I bolted mine to a 2x8 scrap from Lowes or Home Depot. I clamp it to the table in my reloading nook, slightly overhanging. It's a Lee with the primers dropping down into the base. I chiseled a funnel into the wood and installed a McDonald's straw, so now my primers drop neatly into the trash can under the mount.
