I have a Colt M4 and a S&W M&P10, both flat top. I use an EOTech with magnifier or a variable scope with 30mm tube. My preferred charging style is edge of the curved left index finger (middle segment) on the latch with a straight left thumb pinching the back of the handle. I find this gives me more control than side of hand and the 7.62 uses a much stronger buffer spring than the 5.56.
My Colt and (to a significantly lesser extent my S&W) charging handle tend to bind from the side forces unless I keep it clean and lightly greased (I only use CLP or LP on the carrier--no grease).
I have large hands but comparably skinny fingers.
Here are my questions?
How well does the BCM Gunfighter work for this application (single side actuation and with a scope)?
Should I go with the Large #3 or Medium #4 latch?
Is the .308/7.62 model compatible with the S&W M&P10?
