I have an HK P7M8 that I will be using for my IWB carry. But I am looking for an ankle carry type gun for when I am wearing scrubs or something. I am trying to stay in the 9mm group. I really like the HK P2000SK but want to know if it is too big or heavy for 8-10hrs ankle wear???

I have looked at the Rohrbaugh and the Kahr PM9 (for a smaller size than the HK), but I dislike the DAO feature. I really like DA/SA. I have even looked at the Seacamp and the NAA .32/380 and although very nice guns, again the DAO bothers me and even smaller calibers than a 9mm. All inputs appreciated.

I would think the P2000sk is no more uncomfortable than a G26 or Walther 99. The nice thing about the HK is (for me) the grip just fits me very well so that even tho it has that abreviated grip, it still works.

You have to decide for yourself.

I had a P2000SK, and it was a pretty good chunk to carry (even IWB) for me. It's certainly a compact weapon, and there are many heavier for sure, but I just found it a little on the bulky side. If you were walking normaly it shouldn't be a problem, but I'd hate to have to run with one on my ankle.

HK P-2000sk 9mmNATO-SIG/DAK P-239 .357sig

The HK P-2000sk model would be a solid choice for CC-ankle rigs. If I were you and you had the $$$ I would look into the SIGarms P-239 in .357sig. You can buy the new DAK model and get a CrimsonTrace lasergrip for the SIG P-239.

A lasersight would be a big help in a critical incident and the .357sig is a much better round for protection use. The .357sig feeds like a 9mmNATO and is highly rated in LE circles.

PS: You can get a HK P-2000sk model in .357sig too but I do not know of any Lasermax type lasersights for the P-2000 series yet.

^^^^I love sigs, and i did look at the P239. But I my concern is weight for an ankle carry all day. The HK2000SK is 20oz with empty magazine, the P239 is bigger in every dimension and weighs like 26oz empty. Carrying an extra three pounds on one ankle might be a little too much.

A SW M60 weighs 20 oz. The issue with ankle rigs to me is more bulk than weight. I know people who carry a Glock 19 in an ankle rig but it looks like they have a odd shaped tumor on their ankle. You might get away with it in scrubs. It would be a lot easier if bell bottoms came back in style.
