P365XL Arrived - Review of problems

Yes they changed the design now.But if you bought prior to that you are out of luck.Your model with sight needing to be removed wont be worth much.Just like an original M&P shield not worth much since 2.0 versions etc etc have been released.

I really don't care that much about resale as I'm not very likely to be selling either my P365 or P365XL. There are plenty of pros and cons and the RDS is not a one size fits all perfect gun sight for everyone.

I specifically avoided buying the older version P365XL and went to every gun shop in town looking for the new version P365XL. But I wasn't worried about use with an RDS. I just didn't like the idea of the rear sight being mounted on a plate that needed to be removed in order to gain access to the coiled spring pin that holds the extractor in place. I feel more secure with the sight mounted in a dovetail grove directly in the slide.

I have 3 reasons that I won't use an RDS. It won't fit with my carry methods. It can fail due to battery problems and other electrical issues. Even if I open carried in a manner that would allow an RDS, I don't want to be switching between two radically different sighting methods. To each their own.

I don’t buy brand new model guns. Let the bugs be worked first.

I’ve been buying and shooting guns for 30 years. Guns of all makes and models. They’ve all operated as they should and went bang every time. I don’t need to radius and deburr things like you do.

You're right about that, Homer. Often 'Used' is even better. Thataway if you don't have time to go to the range to smooth out all those bits & pieces, the gun has already been broken in.
