I have an old Lyman 48m third generation peep sight. It is in pretty good condition and I was thinking about selling it so I was wondering how much I should ask for. I will attach pictures of the sight and I also have the part to mount on a rifle currently on my rifle which I don't have a picture of but will be selling with the sight.

Start it on eBay at 0.1 cent, with no reserve.
The market will establish what top dollar is before the auction ends, and you get top dollar for it.

And the sight without the base is not going to be worth nearly as much as the complete sight & base that came matched to it!

Rc model I do have the matching base with it that I do plan to sell with it so I guess I will just put it on eBay and see what it goes for

Upon looking around some more I cannot find any others except for the one west Kentucky posted and I saw some people say that they are very rare so If anyone has any more specific info about his sight and possibly when it was made that would be great. I contacted lyman and they r the ones who told me the model as it came with a rifle I bought so any info is appreciated

If its steel its worth more than the current aluminum ones. That's depending on condition of course, but very good condition should make it worth more than the current ones. There are people that specialize in selling sights. If you don't find anyone, I know of a guy on another forum, send me a PM and I'll look him up.

The SME designation Lyman sights fit Springfields, Mausers and Enfields (1917's, not Lee Enfields).

I've bought them at gun shows in the $40 range, but they can go for a fair bit more.

It came with the rifle as in "original equipment"? If so then you really don't want to sell the sight by itself.

The firearms shows I go to has a couple of guys that are selling parts and sights. They've got some very obscure stuff. But they keep bringing along the same stuff to all the shows. I asked about a couple of peep sights and in one case he wanted more than what I'd paid for the rifle I wanted to put it onto.

So you gotta figure out that even if this is older there's the price a collector will grudgingly pay and there's the price a regular guy will pay. You'll have to figure out how long you're willing to wait for a collector caught in a jam to come by.

The Lyman 48 sights are made of steel.

They are NOT being made at this time; a look at the Lyman website shows the Models 57 and 66 for hunting use, and the Model 93 for target-shooting.

I haven't checked any of the on-line auction sites, but it wouldn't surprise me to see a good-condition Model 48 sight bring $150 or more.
