Every time I want to start a new thread, I spend 30 minutes to an hour trying to figure out how to do it. I cannot find it, so I am posting it in the only place I can find. Correct me if you wish.

Has anyone ever seen on of these Gasser percussion revolvers in the flesh?

I seen one at a gun show when I was about 10. Dad spotted it, think he would have gotten it but spent is money. The bfr of the 1800s. They weren 11mm if I remember.

I have scoured the internet and gun books and I can only find one picture..... the one I posted. It is in a couple of different locations. I find almost no reference to the gun either. There is one website that show a picture (the same picture) and has an article about Gasser and mentions this revolver. It is in Russian and I had to translate it. If anyone knows anything about it or knows of an internet listing or auction posting, please respond. Mick

That is the same picture that I posted and the only one I can find. Anybody else have anything?

So does this have a name???, I am assuming this is not an 1870 or later models.??

It takes a .454 ball. It says Leopold Gasser on the on the opposite side than the picture with three or maybe four digit number after. Above the name is the Scheinigg Arms crest. It was made in 1862 only, afterwhich they made metallic cartridge revolver. There may have been fewer that 1000 made.

It is easy to find Gasser revolvers and even easier to find Rast and Gasser. I am looking for any info on this particular model.

Well that is a cool pistol. So I gots to ask how do you load it?? And what does the lever on the side do??

It is a percussion cap and ball revolver. You load powder and a ball in each chamber of the cylinder and pack it down with a lever that is on the back side of the gun. the lever that is visible swings down and forward and releases the barrel and cylinder which slides off towards the muzzle for cleaning.

Wow mr ridout, it is unique. I would love to see more photos and if you ever considered making a youtube of it that would be just neat to see how it functions.. Beautiful revolver.
