I don't think your petition will do any good. This is not a federal issue. You have to fight it at the state level, and if it passes, you'll have to take it through the courts all the way from the bottom.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I'm pretty sure that even if Wayne LaPierre or Dudley Brown was president, they could do nothing to stop NYS.

Reminds my of that 1981 movie Escape from New York were they converted Manhattan into a maximum security prison.

minuteman1970, what are you trying to achieve by promoting a petition to the White House to interfere with New York State?

While the White House is not directly associated with NY State legislative matters, my thought in passing the petition along was that we should take every chance we get to make ourselves heard from a RKBA standpoint. We need to counteract the anti-gun polls & petitions with many more that agree with our viewpoint.

The entire point of that petition site is to have the White House address the subject of the petition.Creating a petition there for every random issue that comes to mind merely increases the noise and drowns out the petitions the White House really should be addressing.

I certainly wouldn't impede getting your view to the Governor, what I question is the legitimacy of his remark. Confiscation was stopped in Federal Court when it was attempted in the aftermath of Katrina - how would it be any more legitimate in NYS?

Frankly, it's just trash talk from a political hack which exposes his lack of statesmanship and poor character. Let him talk, he's just destroying his own credibility

Petitions are just playing by his rules. Since when do you kiss up to him?

There is no way a mandatory confiscation can work,it is just too extreme,& we still have rights protected by the constitutuion; or so i thought.....

I strongly doubt it will take effect. Most likely the NRA or someone else will get a preliminary injunction with either the state supreme court or a Federal court preventing the law from taking effect. And the lawmakers in New York know this. I strongly doubt this will pass.

For $3,000,000 tax free ill sell them everything i have,& they can throw in a lamborghini aventador as a bonus.Ive got it all picked out,too;

Unfocused effort doesn't help us and unfocused effort on the wrong pressure points actually harms us.

You need to find a petition in NY State that the Assembly and Governor will see and potentially be impacted by. All of NY is not NYC even if that tail wags the dog in the Assembly.

If you can't find one start one at change.org and post back to here.
Here's an example of one that is up http://www.change.org/petitions/do-not-support-senator-feinstein-s-assault-weapons-bill
