I don't know if this belongs here -- please delete if it doesn't.

A local county sheriff here in New York State went public after the San Bernardino killings asking all CCW permit holders in the county to please carry their firearms at all times if they feel that they are competent to do so.

This caused a firestorm among local left-wing activists, who started a petition asking him to resign. There is now another petition supporting the sheriff and his position. Could I ask people to sign it? You don't have to be a resident of his county, or even New York. Also, you can remain anonymous.

The antis' petition is currently 500 signers ahead, although there is some confusion on "our side" because there are two petitions in support of the sheriff. I'm linking to both.

Petitions are here:

Signed, but keep in mind we'll need to distribute this through other forums and social media to get our friends to join in even though the only folks that matter are the locals that sign it.

I doubt if he's at any real risk of losing his job considering how many elections he's been handed by his constituents, but that doesn't mean we don't need to add our voices to support him against those calling for his removal.

Yes, his job is not actually in danger. This is really just a sort of referendum on the issue of concealed carry. I think most or all of the people who have signed the "anti" petition would like to get rid of it altogether.

Signed, but we on the pro side need to really use Change.Org a LOT more. Most petitions are from the DNC, and like it or not, are what the new younger voters read and believe.

Signed but it wanted me to sign a petition to support Bernie Sanders to continue so I closed out of it.

Change.org gets used for a lot of liberal causes, but it can be used by anyone. As oneounceload said, we could and should be using it a lot more.

Done, and thank you for giving our voices the opportunity to be heard.
The "other side" is generally far more effective in using media to get their opinions out.
