armedwalleye,

Perhaps you can tell me......I have long wondered if the grip of the KelTec fold-o-matic set up for S&W 59 mags is short enough to run with KelTec P11 mags. Supposedly M59 series mags will work in the P11, so I was wondering if the short P11 mags would work in the carbine.

Also how hard is it to change from Beretta mags to S&W and can you as easily switch back and forth?

BTW thanks for your screen name......I will always now cast a little spoon wondering if a rubber powered dive speargun spear will fly out of the water and take me down as I fish......

I once produced a simple image of a fish wearing scuba gear for a University Newsletter article on polluted lakes and despite my boss's desire for me to arm the fish image with a spear gun, I resisted. I did call the image up and arm it for her after the article went to press. Now that image has returned to haunt me.

Well, I am a bit bummed.

It was only after I got the new Ruger PC Carbine home, changed out the mag well for Glock mags, and reversed the charging handle, that I noticed that the Ruger mag in the box was a 10 rounder. What the....? Then looked at the muzzle, and yep, my dealer ordered the "neutered" version for less than free states. We had the conversation prior to ordering, and he put it on the special order form, that I wanted the 17 round model with the threaded barrel

I am guessing that it will be way too much hassle to swap it out, and it was uncertain whether I would get a can for it, so I am guessing that I will have to keep it. I will give him a call tomorrow and see if he can give me a little consideration.

Oh well, I am guessing that it will shoot the same, and should be a ton of fun, but...

Seems like no big loss on the Ruger mag since you are using the Glock adapter, but if you were going to suppress it . . . man that's disappointing.

If you keep it, let us know what you think of it. :)

Ya I bet it would. Its still a neat carbine and there are people who will never spring for a sound suppressor anyway. They'd be pefectly happy with it as-is. All signs point to this carbine being very popular and a hot seller.

I noticed the prices have come down about 20 bucks from the $519.00 pre-order prices online.

Just the 9mm conversion kit for the X95 is more expensive than the Ruger. I don't get it. Are IWI's manufacturing costs really that much higher than Ruger's ? I was saving for an X95, hoping that the prices would come down. The prices have not come down and I'm crossing it off my list. I could see how MAYBE I might get a Hi-Point in the future if that bullpup stock really is nice, but unless I win the lottery I'm never going to purchase the X95.

I'm going to keep it, since a can was a remote possibility, and it is really handy in its present format. I will let him know, just in case his distributor tried to pull a fast one on him.

Now, my observations: Ruger is definitely thinking about expanding into other calibers, and even if they don't aftermarket folks won't have any difficulty. Change out the mag well (which includes the ejector), the bolt face, and the extractor, couple it with a new barrel, and you have another caliber. They also stamped the caliber on the barrel, not on the receiver.

One would be well served with one of these for the home defense, bang around the ranch, role. I think that they have a winner.

Here it is (crappy cell phone pic, sorry), with a Bushnell TRS-25, weapon light, and a Glock 17 mag.

Are all the parts ou mentioned easily changed? I had understood they made the bolt face easy to change. The fact that the ejector is part of the mag adaptor is interesting, not to mention the caliber stamp. Maybe they are on their way to a better implementation of the MPX?

Sistema1927,

While I am sad you did not get what you ordered......wow man you got one!!!!!

Nice set up too.

I would be bothering my horse and neighbors' goats and cows at this very moment with the noise of me killing six gallon pails of gravel in the back yard at this very moment if I had that!

Thanks for sharing.

I'm interested in how that TRS-25 works with the PC Carbine.

I'm also going to have to save up for an optic but I haven't decided what I'll put on the Ruger once I get it.

That looks ready to go. The Bushnell looks to be the perfect height for that gun. Congrats on the new PCC.

I am getting interested in a TNW Aero Survival Rifle (ASR) in 10mm Auto. This 5# rifle breaks down in two parts for transport in a pack. To change calibers, just swap bolt and barrel. Comes in 10mm, 45 ACP, 9mm Parabellum, 22 LR, and more coming. Looks similar to AR but is marketed as a breakdown survival carbine. Have not bought one ...yet. Might need to make the 2 hour drive to Cabelas.........

From what I understand, you can't just buy an Aero Survival Rifle and purchase conversion kits for it to be able to fire all the available calibers. The Aero comes in 2 versions or 2 "frames". The 40 S&W, .357 SIG and 9mm Luger version can easily be converted between those 3 calibers But if you want 10mm or 45 ACP, you have to purchase either a 10mm or .45 ACP rifle, and either caliber is convertible to the other. So if you purchase the 10mm rifle, you can easily convert to .45 ACP, but not to 9mm. If you purchased the 9mm rifle - you wouldn't be able to convert that to shoot 10mm or .45 ACP.

You'd have to purchase at least 2 rifles and 4 conversion kits if you wanted to shoot 45 ACP, 10mm, 9mm, 40 S&W, .357 SIG and .22LR.

Also, the controls on the Aero are pretty spartan. It really is a survival rifle, but then they started offering it in a whole bunch of colors like it was intended to be a range plinker

kBob, not sure at all about the P11 mags, but if a member in MN has such a mag, I'd be happy to try it!

The "multi-mag" version of the Sub2K has a small tab (think about something 1/3 the size of a postage stamp) in the grip held in place to the magazine disconnect by two allen head screws. Once the screws are loose, reach up into the mag well with a finger to hold the tab, remove the screws the rest of the way, and pull the tab out, balanced on the end of your finger. Insert the new tab the same way, on the end of your finger, and install the screws. I added a drop on the "non-permanent" loctite, since I head the screws have a penchant for vibrating loose under recoil. I think the switch back and forth would be possible, but not readily doable in the field.

The tab is about $12.50 plus shipping from Keltec, but I think places like Cheaperthandirt and Midway stock some of them as well.

Thanks, too, kBob, for the mental image!! I could see that as a boat decal...

EDIT TO ADD: I did some research on a couple sub2k sites, it sounds like the p11 magazines are too short to fit into the Sub2k.

Still not a problem...I’m only interested in 10 mm Auto, and possibly the 45 ACP. Not the others. Also, spartan works for me...want it as a no frills backpack woods carbine, and not a range toy.
