Exactly. I dont think that this will help gunowners at all. I think it will only reinforce the idea that police are somehow superior. We need to start pressuring the LE community to back us. Perhaps we can use the NRA and other gun orgs to do this. I dont know how but I think we should start pushing for our rights.
It perpetuates this myth that Police officers are somehow much more qualified and proficient to posses weapons than the rest of us. It Extends this class of "Super-Citizen" which is more privileged that we mere "citizens"
Either the "people" have a right, or they do not. Which is it going to be?
Do we have the right to do it or not? ProficientRifleman is right. It helps to foster the idea that police are somehow superior to us and need to carry while we as none LEOs do not.
Perhaps if we can get the NRA to start lobbying hard for us liek the Police organizations and unions we can get it passed.
