I actually do carry a PPS, I chose it because it fits my hand and carry desires.
SA XD SC would be the second choice, MrsBFD carries that and if my PPS were out of commission, I'd pick up one of those rapidly.
My other carry is an officer-size 1911, all steel in .45acp, it also meets the requirements of being thin and simple to operate.

Back when I was picking a carry gun, wrong-way safeties like the Beretta slide-mounted one were out, and I think the sig was too wide or just didn't fit the hand, I do remember a caliber-swapping sig being in the running, it was a no-go but not for memorable reasons, it seems.

The problem is, I can't pick a gun for you, you need to narrow things down more and put up some features you like / dislike.
Get a big pile of guns, and run some ammo through them if possible. Then determine what you want for a carry gun.

I don't carry any of those four guns. Why? Because I don't care to own any of those four guns. I already have my carry guns covered

You should have put an other option, that is if you care to know. In case you do I carry a Taurus 709.

None would be my first choice....but if I had to choose it would be the Walther PPS.

Why, because it is designed to be a carry gun, flat and light with a famous handgun maker and no real issues that I have read or heard of.

The Sig 250 has had many detractors and some say is Sig's worst product, failed the ATF pistol tests and just seems to have a bad rep when researched.

The XD is OK but the SC is kind of big when compared to the Glock 26 or the PPS for example.

The Beretta PX4 is only interesting because of its famous maker and the rotating barrel which the SC does not use. Also it is a big and chunky "sub" compact.

FWIW

Out of the choices I'd pick the Walther for CCW. I like the XD the best out of those guns the best but it's too bulky for me for daily carry.

None of the above.

My preferred carry pistol is either a Glock 23 or a Glock 27.

Occasionally I carry a 5-shot snubbie revolver.
But very rarely.

None of the above. Kahr pm9, tried the PPS but did not feel right in My grip and I just didn't like it, good gun though I'm sure, just not for Me...WVleo

None of the above. I carry Glocks and Colts because of fit and function.

I also don't carry any of the above choices. I carry a KT pf-9 that has been 100% releiable or a revolver. I am working to brake in a KT p-11 and a glock 27 buy i sure like a very light weight firearm to carry. The glock may not make that list.

For more than a few years my cc had been the xd40sc. It will run any off the shelf fmj or jhp that I have shoved into it including gunshop and gunshow reloads. A couple years ago I added a crimson trace laser grip. I also have a drop in 9mm barrel for fun.

Why? It puts holes where I point it - each and every time- When it's too blocky for the dress of the day (and it is a blocky pistol) I pocket an LCP.

my list is short because these are guns that fit me and i shoot well. glocks and kahrs are fine weapons but don't feel right. the sr9c is another option if the safety isn't necessary. all of your continued input of pros and cons is much appreciated. one problem i have is i really like my large guns: three different platforms - p220, xdm9, and a custom 1911. i,ve ccw each of these, but dress too often dictates a smaller gun. been researching this awhile-just haven't been able to find shootability, accuracy, reliability, and capacity in one weapon. please continue to comment.

Of the guns listed the PPS is the best carry pistol because of size and easy concealment. I carry my PPS sometimes, but usually I opt for the Kahr PM9, Kahr P380, or S&W 340PD. I have tried a number of guns for CCW including SA9sc, PX4sc, G26, PPS, but I keep returnng to my PM9 because of size and ease of concealment. I also prefer pocket carry which further tilts the scale to the PM9.

Well, I've seen some rumours about an XDM compact, there have been officer-size 1911s for many decades and most run fine with the right ammo (you might do a bit more ammo reliability testing). You can get a compact version of the platform you already like. If you want to drop down from .45acp, Springfield makes the EMP, which is a 9mm 1911 built from the ground up to run on 9mm, there's a .40s&w version as well. STI makes some compact 9mm 1911-like guns also.

well ... no
Welcome to handguns, they're all about compromise, there isn't a lightweight, compact, 30-round capacity, .50AE, accurate, comfortable, thin, nice-looking handgun that your wife/mom/GF will enjoy shooting.
Pick your compromises, you're obviously aware that there just isn't a handgun that does everything the best, so you'll have to set some priorities. I'm lucky in that I already like my guns thin, so single-stack rugged autoloaders fit my hand. Of the four you listed, only one fits the thin requirement, which will (combined with good holster and belt) make for comfortable all-day carry.

Walther PPS because it's thin, conceals easily and shoot very well. I used to carry a .380 as my summer carry......I'm much happier with the 9mm Walther.
