The "Post your target" challenges continue...
1) Post your targets - The 15 yard pistol challenge
2) Post Your Targets 2 - The Weak Hand Pistol Challenge.
3) Post Your Targets 3 - Long walk short pier challenge.
4) Post Your Targets 4 - You CAN do it!

And now the HARD CORE BALLOON CHALLENGE!

Soon we’ll be moving into the fall festival season with parties and gatherings and parades and all manner of celebration. And what goes great with celebrations? That’s right, BALLOONS!!! This challenge is a “hard core” extension of the previous one (you CAN do it). We’re moving from accuracy (can you hit the target) to precision (can you choose –where- to hit the target).

For this challenge we have a NEW TARGET.
http://www.targetz.com/targetz-lib/20033.pdf (WARNING, PDF FILE)

1) Download, print, and Post the target at 30ft (10 yards).
2) Load 10 rounds (one for each balloon)
2) Using any pistol and any method (unsupported, two hand, weak hand, whatever) try to shoot each balloon only ONCE.

As always, when you post don't forget to give us some details on your shooting (gun used, stance used, etc).

Super EXTRA BONUS POINTS:

I’ll give 5,000 super extra bonus points for each “cut string” (shooting the string rather than just shooting the balloons!)

This challenge may be shot at any speed you choose.

There it is. Have fun!

Ze

Okay, shot the challenge with a Taurus PT-1911 (5" barrel) and this is my best of three attempts. Indoor range and Winchester white box FMJ ammo. Although I like the PT-1911 and it's fun to shoot, it is (obviously) not the gun I'm best with. I can't wait to try it again with my SIG 229 or the CZ75b.

Yikes! A bit (a lot) more challenging.

I can't get to the range until next Sunday. Maybe my Remington 870 Wingmaster with #2 shot? Proper tool for the job and all that . . . . :neener:

wish I had a color printer,I think I would have done better.all shot off hand with gun in pic. S&W 66 was shot DA,don't worry its a old TX dept. of Corections gun and has the smoooooothest DA pull.

Yeah, this is a hard one.:D

10 yards.
Standing, two hands.
Iron sights.
45 ACP Kimber Covert II

The string shot doesn't count because I was aiming at the yellow balloon.:D

Second Attempt!

Okay, the first attempt (posted above) was with a new PT-1911. Gun was new to me, I don't generally shoot .45ACP, and have very little experience with a 1911 style gun anyway.

Well it was kinda bugging me so I went back and tried again with my old warhorse, a Ruger Security-Six .357 Magnum with a 6" barrel. Basically I consistently shoot this pistol better than anything else I own.

and the result was....

:D:D:D:D

Two handed, freestanding, VERY slow fire, single action. Seriously I think it took me about four minutes to shoot this target!

AndyC, what's holding ya up?
No handgun yet, only my FAL - but I got my permanent residence granted yesterday, so I may not be pistol-less much longer :D

Shoot. Wish I had a printer that works. Was at the range today too.

So ah, can I use my Kadet 22 with red dot? I could probably fit all 10 shots in one balloon.

AndyC,
Join us when you can, the challenges aren't going anywhere!

Chris,
Do I need to MAIL you some targets???? :neener:
Also, hey if you want to use the .22 and a red dot go ahead. I think we're generally finding that this is a pretty challenging challenge (no pun intended).

I have a couple of more pistol challenges in the works, then I'm going to cook up some long gun related ones (now that I have a 100 yard range to work with).

Ze,
How about some Mosin Nagant challenges? It would have to be classed, so the guys with Finn rifles don't clean house on me.

Well,

I had to take a "Shot" at this challenge.

Seeing as how 10 bullets were allowed, and with the price of ammo being what it is, I thought to myself. 10 bullets? WOW that's gettin' expensive!

So, I improvised and tried to see how many I could take out with one shot at 25 yards.

As it turns out, ALL of 'em.

Birdshot is a wonderful thing.:neener:

Ok, got a chance to post my targets.

On the left one, I used a standard isosceles stance.
On the right one, I used a sort of modified isoceles, where you bring your elbows in until they touch your ribcage. Akward, goofy looking, but pretty stable. Wouldn't recommend it with a hard recoiling cartridge though, or you'll get rear sight in your forehead :).
