The most likely candidate spent his honeymoon in the Soviet Union. He thought it was plenty "modern" enough. Not countries we would want to emulate, and not "modern countries" in my view.

My point which may be too subtle for some is that you can’t trust politicians to support gun rights. If you do vote for a candidate don’t give them a pass when they are in office as you like them better than their opponent.
That is foolish. Anything else a candidate does, doesn’t excuse folding on the issue and leading one to make some hero worship excuses.
Bernie is not going to be the Dem nominee. You can bank on that. The most likely candidate spent his honeymoon in the Soviet Union.
He wants to confiscate his enemies guns and wants to recreate Mao's Great Leap Forward. If he doesn't get the nomination it's because of orchestrated corruption of the process. His "activists" won't like that. Some of them profess to have guns.Bernie is not going to be the Dem nominee. You can bank on that.
It's not about one man. It's about the totality of the political situation.I cannot imagine any President that would wants to destroy his own BASE. Trump is no fool, and he knows how to deal the cards. You can't win every hand and you pick your battles. Trump will fight hard to keep his base and that means fighting for the 2nd Amendment, and that you can bet on. If you have a better candidate for the 2nd amendment rights, then please let's here it. So which one that you choose should we all trust???
No, it's because he doesn't have more than about 18% support (tops) among Democrats. If he doesn't get the nomination it's because of orchestrated corruption of the process.
How does that translate into concrete action? I don't consider a vote for Trump to be a vote for the RKBA. Once re-elected, he would be free of all constraints, and would revert back to his original attitudes about guns, which were anti-AW. Read the books that he wrote (or that were ghost-written for him) back before he ran for president. The man is crassly using gun owners. He will drop them the instant it's convenient for him.Make sure to vote for your RKBA in 2020 !
It's the ONLY reason why he didn't get it last time. No, it's because he doesn't have more than about 18% support (tops) among Democrats.
I honestly don't think that's going to happen. But if it does -- especially if it's with an Electoral College victory but a popular vote loss -- it will lead to a crisis of legitimacy not seen since the Civil War. Think Trump Derangement Syndrome is bad now? It will become 10 times worse. What can he be trusted on? The prospect of him getting second term is actually frightening.
And, NICS has its flaws, there are a number of States (±14 IIRC) which have not sent any disqualifying information to NICS. There are a number of States which have sent felony convictions, but not one domestic violence or mental health DQ. There's not a good way to audit NICS (nor staff to do so); there is speculation that the list is only 49-72% complete. Where are the cries that the State do their job?
What they might want and what they actually get are two different things. To realize the antigun nightmare, they would have to (a) win the presidency and the House and the Senate, (b) repeal the Senate filibuster rule, and (c) impose party discipline on pro-gun Senators like Manchin and Tester. That's a tall order. On the other hand, Trump, if re-elected, could get just about any antigun thing he fancied passed.it’s a lot less frightening than a term for Any of the dem contenders who all are for absolute confiscation
Think strategically. It's the totality of the situation that counts, not one particular individual. The antigunners plan for 10,15 years down the road. The pro-gun side should start doing the same. What do we do after Trump, whether that's in 2021 or 2025?With all of his faults Trump is still a way better alternative to any of the bat blank crazy Dems on the stage no question, period.
This is true. Not a prospect I for one would look forward to.I can guarantee you folks one thing though, if Trump wins we're going to see a social unsettling unlike anything we've seen for quite some time.
I don’t necessarily think so. Many claim Trump is a narcissist. And I don’t really disagree. Trump wants his legacy. He spent (and still spends) a lot of time talking about Obama’s legacy. Trump’s legacy is founded on his base. His base is largely RKBA people. I don’t think he’s willing to risk that. Maybe I’m wrong. I don’t personally know him. But that’s my hypothesis.Once re-elected, he would be free of all constraints, and would revert back to his original attitudes about guns, which were anti-AW.
Maybe--too many of these clowns too often in the press.Wasn't one of the recent shootings done by someone that got their guns "legally" because their state of prior residency had failed to supply mental evaluations to NICS?
What can he be trusted on? The prospect of him getting second term is actually frightening.
You can't impose Holodomor v2.0 on people who can resist with force.
Thank God we have a President that is on our side.
Another deterrent to mass shootings would be to arrest & charge the immediate family of the shooter as well.
They had the best barometer on the crazy level, and need to be accountable as well.
Once that becomes common knowledge, and knowing what would happen to them, they wouldn't want go down for Dorko's (Dorka's too) actions.
The relatives should pull them back from the brink, secure the guns, maybe even have them committed ahead of time.
